Melbourne rockers Eddy Current Suppression Ring have just won the $30,000 Australian Music Prize – or AMP, as it is appropriately called – for 2008, coming out on top against the likes of The Drones (Havilah), The Presets (Apocalypso), and Cut Copy (In Ghost Colours), and a whole lot of other talented folks. Their album Primary Colours is wonderful, so it’s great to see them score a load of cash to keep the dream alive, etc.

Many thought their union wouldn’t last, despite the palpable chemistry they displayed in their stunningly emotional duet Almost Here (Delta at her voice-cracking-from-sheer-intensity-of-lyrics best), but the naysayers have been proven wrong.
