John Farnham On ‘The Dream’

4:42PM Jess McGuire | Oh god. It breaks my heart to say it, but I think our week of John Farnham madness may be coming to a close (although we’ll still keep an eye out for the odd news story relating to Big JF). WorldWideJeb suggested we launch Farnham Fridays though – how would you feel about that, dear readers? Anyway. Let’s squeeze in one last Farnesy clip today while we work out what the hell we do with ourselves from Monday onwards. More »

Hey! Would You Like To See Photos Of The Girl Russell Brand Seduced While Waiting For A Ferry?

4:01PM Jess McGuire | Of course you want to see photos. Of course you do. You need to see if a) you know her, and b) is she prettier than you? Thank your lucky stars for Defamer Australia then, because I am glad to inform you we have a large collection of pash shots, and they’re available for your perverted voyeuristic eyes after the jump. Defamer Australia Reader’s Encounter With Catherine Deveny

3:44PM Jess McGuire | Reader Annie got in touch with us this morning about her brief encounter “in the wild” with Catherine Deveny, the striking (in every sense) columnist from The Age. I think it’s worth reading what she has to say. More »

Russell Is Probably Doing An Attractive Blonde Groupie As We Speak

3:00PM Jess McGuire | Bad news for all but one of Russell Brand’s fans in Australia, ladies and gays who perhaps had their hearts set on wooing the scruffy comedian during his stay in our sunburnt country. It seems the kitty-thieving (MAYBE) lothario has been spotted tonguing an “attractive blonde”… someone he met whilst waiting for public transport! More »

Eddy Current Suppression Ring Win The Australian Music Prize

2:11PM Jess McGuire | This just in! Melbourne rockers Eddy Current Suppression Ring have just won the $30,000 Australian Music Prize – or AMP, as it is appropriately called – for 2008, coming out on top against the likes of The Drones (Havilah), The Presets (Apocalypso), and Cut Copy (In Ghost Colours), and a whole lot of other talented folks. Their album Primary Colours is wonderful, so it’s great to see them score a load of cash to keep the dream alive, etc. More »

Delta Goodrem And Brian McFadden To Be Hitched By Year’s End

1:57PM Jess McGuire | Here’s one thing I know for sure about Defarnham Australia readers – when they’re not busy celebrating the majesty that is Whispering Jack, they’re revelling in the love affair that is the Delta Goodrem and Brian McFadden romance. Many thought their union wouldn’t last, despite the palpable chemistry they displayed in their stunningly emotional duet Almost Here (Delta at her voice-cracking-from-sheer-intensity-of-lyrics best), but the naysayers have been proven wrong. They’re still together! They tour together! Brian loves AFL now! And best of all, they’ve promised to get cracking with their nuptials. More »

Daryl Somers Is Not Behind Recent Anti-Farnham Campaign

10:30AM Jess McGuire | Today’s Herald Sun reports in the Confidential section that some crazed fool out there has been less than pleased with the Farnham flavoured revolution currently occurring around the globe, and they’ve been writing hateful – hateful – letters to the Herald Sun on the topic. And as if this wasn’t devious enough, they’ve tried to frame a celebrity for their doings! More »

Letter From the Editor

9:31AM Jess McGuire | Hola, dear readers. How are you feeling as we reach the end of John Farnham Appreciation Week? Pumped and inspired, I’ve no doubt. It has been suggested that we turn John Farnham Appreciation Week into John Farnham Appreciation Year but even I can’t help but suspect that may be overkill. However, some clever wag on Twitter piped up that we should rename the site Defarnham Australia – and that, my friends, seems entirely appropriate. More »

Obama’s ‘Special Olympics’ Leno Gaffe

9:08AM Ryan Tate | In an otherwise agreeable appearance on the Tonight Show, the president compared his bowling to “like Special Olympics, or something.” This is why presidents avoid late-night TV. More »
