Guy Sebastian’s Meatball Sandwich Hell!
Oh man, some Mondays you wake up feeling less than stellar, your morning crawling along miserably until suddenly – BAM! You stumble across a story that puts your own pathetic and pointless sooking into perspective.
Personally, learning about Guy Sebastian’s horrific weekend in Los Angeles at the hands of meatball sandwich thieves really kicked me up the jacksie and made me realise just how insignificant my worries are.
Only one month after relocating to the US, nice-as-pie singer Guy Sebastian has had a bad taste of LA life, being threatened with a knife during a late-night street mugging. And it was all over a meatball sandwich.
That’s right, folks. Guy Sebastian was robbed at a Subway. And guess how the world found out about this horrendous event? Guy Twittered the news.
The Australian Idol favourite posted an announcement on social networking site Twitter at the weekend informing fans of the random hold-up and robbery.
Confidential has learned the attack took place outside a Subway restaurant on the streets of Hollywood around 3am on Saturday.
“Oh my gosh, I just got mugged at knife-point no kidding!” Sebastian wrote. “Got a meatball subway and was met outside by two thugs who wanted cash! $150!”
Sebastian’s Australian agent, Titus Day, confirmed the story yesterday.
But did they take your sandwich, Guy? WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MEATBALL SUB? DID YOU MANAGE TO KEEP THEIR GRUBBY STREET PAWS OFF YOUR DINNER?
“It was after working late in the studio and he didn’t have his wallet or phone on him, so just gave them the money he had,” Day told Confidential.
“He threw the money at them to distract them and when they went to get it, he ran and jumped in his car and went back to the hotel.”
The idea of Guy Sebastian flinging money on the ground and running off to his car, meatball sub in hand, strikes me as vaguely hysterical. That said, muggings are no laughing matter, and I feel for Guy even though, you know, he doesn’t seem overly concerned about things at all. The incident was Twitterable, but not worth filing a police report over…
Describing the thieves as “buggers”, Sebastian did not contact police over the incident because he was not worried about the money. “He said they were young and seemed like homeless guys, and that he didn’t feel like he was in serious danger,” Day said.
Ah yes, because young homeless guys with knives are pussycats at heart, right?

Call me cynical, but I seriously doubt this story for several reasons:
1. Guy had the bollocks to even attempt an escape.
2. He didn’t call the police, but did manage to Twitter news of the incident ASAP.
3. A meatball sandwich? C’mon everybody knows that Subway’s BMT is the best option to sate your appetite.
I can’t believe Guy Sebastian’s Australian agent is called Titus Day. What’s his US manager called – Lucius Knight?
