The ABC is hiring! Kind of!

A secret shortlist of six people is being considered by the Federal Government for two vacant seats on the ABC board but Labor has put on the backburner its election pledge to reintroduce a staff-elected director despite strong support in the Senate.

I do hope I’m on it.

The two seats have been vacant for nine and 12 months and give the Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, his first chance to put his stamp on the ABC.

The candidates were selected by an independent panel under an appointment process introduced by the Communications Minister, Stephen Conroy, to end the culture of stacking the board with political “mates”.

Wait, are they saying John Howard was being devilish when he appointed Keith Windschuttle?

    It reminds me of the Labor branch meetings in my home town of Newcastle. Free beer and chicken means a TWIST TOP of the secretary’s home brew and some neck stew (bilo $2.45 a Kg)
