Box Opens Up: “I’m Gonna Be Just Fine!”

If you immediately felt concerned when you learned that Fifi Box had broken up with her long time lover Tony Woods, I am pleased to inform you that Fifi has turned to the media and reassured them that she’s doing well despite the pain of the break up, and – of course! – the two remain close friends. And work colleagues!

Fifi Box has opened up on her split with boyfriend and manager Tony Woods, telling Confidential she remains very much in love with the man who remains her best friend.

Remains very much in love? Gracious! In which case, what on earth is to blame for their relationship being torn asunder?!

The Sunrise stunt-weathergirl said the tyranny of distance – her living in Sydney and he in Melbourne – made them realise it was time to let go.

Apparently Fifi realised she’d only seen her boyfriend five times since October. Five times! It’s only an hour between Sydney and Melbourne by plane, and given that she featured heavily in the Virgin Blue advertising campaign I saw on my flight to Adelaide, I’m assuming she can hop on said aircraft for free. 5 times just doesn’t sound right to me at all. Fifi Box, I know you’re being incredibly open with the media about this emotional issue, but are you covering something up?

“Friends have been ringing and asking me if everything is OK and how I’m feeling,” she said. “But all I can say is that I’m not that sad – I’m more than happy to talk about it because we remain really close and Tony will continue to be my manager. I’ve had relationships with guys where I’ve never spoken to them again. But Tony and I remain best friends and that is testament to the relationship.”

Hmmm, alright. If you say so. I’ll stop querying your break up, Fifi Box… mostly because I don’t really care all that much (not in a bad way! I’m just hungry, I need to go and make a sammich, can’t be distracted by your love life, you know?)

Also: really sorry about using the phrase “long time lover” to describe Tony. It’s so icky, it makes me think of slimy old people at sex parties, and you are certainly not one of those, miss.
