Rex Hunt Was Just Defending Himself From A Vicious Bicycle Assault!
Reet reet reet! One Day Old News Desk™ here, and ready to deliver a scintillating report regarding the ongoing Rex Hunt versus A Cyclist legal dramas. Remember in November when we reminded you about the time in October when we informed you of Rex Hunt being charged with assault on a cyclist over an incident in July of last year?
Rex faced The Law yesterday, and here’s what happened according to the Herald Sun:
Media personality Rex Hunt will argue self defence in court as he faces allegations he punched a cyclist in a road rage attack.
The former Richmond, Geelong and St Kilda player was reportedly driving along Ormond Esplanade at Elwood, suburban Melbourne, on the way to commentate on an AFL match for Fairfax Radio Network station 3AW when the alleged road rage attack happened in July 2008.
Police have charged Hunt with recklessly causing serious injuries, intentionally causing serious injuries and unlawfully assaulted cyclist Rodney Andonopoulos.
Mr Andonopoulos suffered a broken finger.
During today’s hearing, Hunt’s lawyer Michael Tovey QC said the case would be a factual argument and self defence was an issue.
I look forward to the contested hearing in May. Because this story is gripping.
