It’s time for another sampling of the weirdest overheard quotes and anecdotes from Sundance—but unlike yesterday’s edition, this instalment features a cameo from none other than Mariah Carey.


Walking down Main St, 6:12pm
Doorman: We have a lot bigger stars than they do, though. Adam Duritz from the Counting Crows is coming.

Windy Ridge Cafe, 8:15pm
Journalist: Can I get an Amstel Light?
Utah Waitress: Is that nonalcoholic?

Gifting Suite, near noon
Shoe Publicist: Can we have Mariah sign one of our shoes?
Bodyguard: She’s not gonna wanna do that.
Shoe Publicist: Mariah! Can you sign one of our—
Bodyguard: (shoving publicist) I said she’s not gonna do that.
Mariah Carey: They look great, though!
