Can You Help Fernando Verdasco’s Publicist?
Last time I took Noiseworks’ advice and attempted to “reach out and touch somebody” by doing a good deed, it resulted in Larry Emdur emailing me and offering to be my personal assistant (well, that’s how I choose to remember it). So because I am selfish, I am going to do another good deed on the off chance it benefits me later on.
I received the following urgent sounding missive from claiming to be the PR lady for tennis player Fernando Verdasco (I had to Google his name to work out that was his occupation, you know – I am so out of the loop) and I’m not going to lie to you, it touched my heart.
It starts breathlessly -
This is insane, never reached to anyone in Australia with paparazzi or press or whatever but hello!!!
- and then launches into the asking of favours.
Anyway you can help me out!!! I find it so hard sometimes to get in touch with international press with my client that is always traveling. I represent FERNANDO VERDASCO… I mean… Last time we did a shoot with him and any time his photos go up, he seems to be sort of an international sensation with photos. Basically Fernando was just in Brisbane and won the TENNIS TOURNAMENT… He is HUGE, also known to be dating ANA IVONIVIC, not sure she will be there yet but I will of course let you know. He also was the hero that WON the DAVIS CUP!!! And not to mention he is gorgeous. Here are the details, Fernando is arriving in MELBOURNE on Monday and staying at the GRAND HYATT HOTEL. He will be hanging out with his good friend Michael VARTan, we all know him that will bet her as well and I believe they are going to dinner. I basically just know that it would mean the world to me and it would probably be very good for you guys too to have some shots of him there in Melbourne and also hanging out with Michael Vartan… Is this possible?!!
Is it possible? I don’t know, but I sincerely hope so! It sounds extremely important, what with all the capitalisation and exclamation marks.
Sadly, my camera literally just died so I am unable to go to the Grand Hyatt Hotel and take happy snaps of the HUGE HERO that is Fernando. But readers/paparazzi – could you do it? From what I can gather, a photo of Fernando Verdasco is good, a photo of Fernando with actor Michael Vartan on a dinner date is better. Send them in to tips at defamer.com.au. I can’t pay you, but this isn’t about monetary compensation. It’s about Australians uniting to make the dreams of a publicist come true. And who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?

Citizen Paps away! Actually I know a couple of Melbourne photogs, I’ll send an email out with a link back here.
Cheers

Once upon a time, the role of a publicist required qualifications and above-average communication skills. It’s arse-nuggets like these that ruin it for the professionals.
