A Highlight From The Bec & Lleyton Exclusive Interview In OK! Magazine
Lleyton and Bec Hewitt, as Defamer Australia mentioned a couple of weeks ago, recently signed a deal to exclusively share their newborn son with readers of OK! Magazine. Obviously I camped out overnight outside my local newsagent in order to ensure I was able to purchase the latest issue featuring photos of Australia’s First Sporting Family TM before anyone else in my neighbourhood, and now that I’ve had a couple of days to calm down (and cut out the accompanying photographs and stick them all over my house) I’ve decided to share with you probably the best bit of the interview.
Some folk accused Lleyton and Bec of stealing the name ‘Cruz’ from the Beckhams. Horrible, stupid folk. Who certainly don’t write for websites like Defamer Australia. Thankfully the Hewitts were unaware of such accusations of moniker pilfering because they “don’t read many magazines”. So that’s us told.
Where did they get the name from, then?
Oh, this is delicious. Says Lleyton:
I probably suggested that I liked it, one of Chistina’s Aguilera’s songs is titled Cruz. I suggested it to Bec, that if we had a boy…
THINGS LEARNED FROM THE ABOVE SNIPPET.
1. Lleyton “suggested” the name.
2. Christina Aguilera has a song called Cruz.
3. Lleyton Hewitt is a fan of Christina Aguilera’s music.
4. Lleyton Hewitt names his children after Christina Aguilera songs.
This is just excellent. Later in the interview, Lleyton declares that he expects he and his son will soon be bonding over “the golf and cricket and footy and tennis”, but I have a sneaking suspicion that any young man named after a Christina Aguilera song may end up more interested in pursuing jazz/tap interests.
And what of Mia, I hear you ask? She’s apparently looking forward to the Wimbledon creche (no, really!) and she’s already started speaking French and Spanish. Precocious little thing!

I believe that they don’t read many magazines, because I believe they don’t read. At all. Do not, will not, CANNOT.
