Brief Thoughts Regarding Metro Station

5:29PM Jess McGuire | My god, they are revolting*. Would you look at this? PUT A SHIRT ON, MILEY’S FAUX-PUNK BROTHER! I would do a giveaway of the promo CD I just received for Seventeen Forever but a) that’s unethical! Promo CDs are a gift from music company gods and should be treated with the utmost respect! b) I just stepped on it in disgust (accidentally, of course). When Metro Station decide to start wearing proper clothes and stop looking so punchable, I will give them another chance (< -- POLITE LIE). *It should be noted that I am quite old and don't really understand what The Youth™ are "digging" or why they "dig" it. James Packer Won’t Be Ditching His Bondi Bachelor Pad Just Yet…

3:26PM Jess McGuire | James Packer was planning on buying a big ol’ family home in the Sydney beach suburb of Bondi, but after having a good long think about it, he’s decided to keep a hold of the bachelor pad that served him so well after his well publicised break ups with Katie “Kate” Fischer and Jodhi “Jodi” Meares. Wife Erica Baxter and colourfully named infant Indigo Packer needn’t worry about James’ plans for the future though – it’s because of the real estate market. Of course! With his wealth in decline, James Packer has temporarily shelved plans to buy the perfect family home in Bondi and upgrade from his longtime bachelor pad. His wife Erica Baxter has reportedly persuaded him that daughter Indigo, now six months, will need the privacy of a backyard far from Bondi’s paparazzi. More »

Are You Pumped About The Biggest Loser Yet?

2:14PM Jess McGuire | OH MY GOD I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS. I don’t know exactly what it is about The Biggest Loser that makes me dizzy with glee whenever I think about it, but I am deadset crazy about the show. I am excited that most of the contestants are going to transform themselves into glamorous butterflies, I am excited by the new choice of inspirational music (goodbye, Shannon Noll – hello, Xtina’s Stronger!), and most of all? Most of all I am immensely excited about JILLIAN MICHAELS BEING BACK ON THE TELLY. In November I was sent an inspirational email from a Jillian Michaels fan (which I promptly put online because I am obsessed with all things Jillian), and today another fan has contacted me with a new and totally amazing Jillian Michaels quote from the US series of the program. One girl said her body hurt and she couldn’t any more of whatever she was doing… Jillian said “Guess what else is going to hurt, EVERYTHING!! Hahahaha, classic Jillian! Thank you to reader Amy for sending that in and whetting my appetite. I cannot wait to see her make someone cry. More »

Wayne Carey Returns To Melbourne For Daughter Ella’s Birthday

12:39PM Jess McGuire | REET REET REET! Two Day Old Newsdesk™ with a special heartwarming report! It’s nice when a divorced couple can put aside their differences in order to ensure the child they share is a happy little Vegemite on special occasions. Well done then to Wayne Carey and his former missus Sally who did just that when daughter Ella turned three on Monday. I do hope Sally Carey catered for Wayne’s arrival appropriately (no wine, plastic cups, etc). Disgraced former footballer Wayne Carey and girlfriend Kate Neilson are back in town to celebrate his young daughter’s birthday. The Queensland-based Carey has been playing doting dad to his daughter Ella, who turned three on Monday. Carey and Neilson arrived in Melbourne on the weekend. The ex-Kangaroo has maintained a close relationship with his daughter, despite relocating last year to the Gold Coast. That’s something, Wayne. Good for you. Hope you bought her something nice with that incomprehensibly huge paycheck you got for telling all about your new totally functional relationship! Beyonce Abandons Munchie The Dog!

11:22AM Jess McGuire | I do hope the following is just a vicious rumour and in actual fact little pup Munchie is safe and sound in the arms of owner Beyonce. Make-believe characters do NOT take precedence over pet responsibilities, people! No matter how fiercely said make-believe character may shake their booty! Beyonce Knowles has abandoned her dog. The US superstar has reportedly angered staff at her record label Columbia Records by leaving her canine companion Munchie at their offices since last summer. Doesn’t Beyonce have family who could mind the dog? What’s sister Solange up to? More »

It’s Time To Be Loud And Proud About Your Phil Collins Love

10:48AM Jess McGuire | Obviously I’ve never had a problem with publicly outing myself as a Phil Collins fan considering I once declared Don’t Lose My Number to be one of the greatest songs of all time on here, and then claimed responsibility for In The Air Tonight reaching the top spot in the New Zealand charts. But I want all folks who appreciate Phil Collins to be out about their love. I’m hoping the inspirational words of Creation Records founder Alan McGee might push you out of the closet. From an article titled “The non-ironic revival of Phil Collins” (yes – I had a happy heart attack when I stumbled across the headline during my web travels) If anyone in the 1980s had professed love for Phil Collins’s music, they would have been banished from the indie club; left holding their copies of Face Value as they faced a life without friends who would play them the latest Eyeless in Gaza release or enthuse over the latest James single. Even back in the days of Creation Records, if I told people of my love for Madonna, Pet Shop Boys and Kylie Minogue, I was scoffed at. People thought I was being ironic, but I wasn’t. And when I told a friend of my intentions to do a Phil Collins blog, he said, “That’s too far … that’s too far”. Why? More »
