Wes Carr’s Single Wins Chart Bronze!

Congratulations to Australian Idol winner Wes Carr for scoring the #3 position in this week’s ARIA Singles chat. He’s trailing behind Lady Gaga and Kings Of Leon (damn you, Spano, for making that song so popular!) but when you consider how many naysayers have been thinking of the Idol franchise as a creature on life support, it’s really not a bad start to his brand new Sony-BMG sponsored career.

(Wes Carr) hit No. 3 in the ARIA singles charts yesterday with You, behind Lady GaGa’s chart-topper Poker Face and Kings of Leon’s Sex On Fire, which have both been in the upper echelons of the top 50 for more than two months.

Fans downloaded almost 8300 copies of You in the six days after the Sydney Opera House finale, reports music editor Kathy McCabe.

But with You the most added track to radio last week and the single available on CD from tomorrow, Carr should enjoy a chart boost before Christmas.

Incidentally, Defamer Australia is “in talks” with the powers that be to score an interview with Wes. No, really! We’re all going to have to cross our fingers and pray that the poor soul who makes these decision goes on a bender and okays it whilst under the influence, and then I’ll turn to you, the good and loyal readers, to help me compile a list of hard hitting questions. Or we could just talk about his performance of Black Or White. Whatever works best.
