Sneaky Sound System lead singer Connie Mitchell collapsed during her performance at Rollercoaster Music Festival after being hit by a water bottle. The event in Mandurah, which featured artists such as Cut Copy, Gyroscope, The Teenagers and The Living End, was marred by the incident.

“A water bottle was thrown by a member of the audience which struck Connie in the eye during the song UFO. The vocals kept on going,” Phil Mazzella said. “Her (Connie’s) mic is on and she can be clearly heard saying: ‘got me good…got me really good’, all the while the vocals keep going.

Although the comments section of the article appear to have turned into an all out textual brawl regarding the bogan-or-not status of Mandurah, one reader does pipe up in Connie’s vocal defence.

Says Matt of Adelaide:

Connie doesn’t lip sync – as with virtually ALL live performances, there is a background vocal track playing to provide the necessary harmonies and depth so the music sounds like what they’ve recorded. When singing live it’s obviously not possible to sing more than one harmony at a time.

DID SHE EVEN TRY THOUGH?

While I refuse to condone the throwing of objects at performers, I do sort of wish the bottle-flinger had at least screamed something noteworthy along the lines of “It is the farewell kiss, you dog!“, you know?
