YouTube Clip Of The Day

1:51PM Jess McGuire | My friend Shane sent me this one – not technically YouTube, but it made me “laugh out loud” so deal with it. Awesome 80’s Montage: Shawshank – watch more funny videos Explosive. LOLs. More »

Little Feat – “Long Distance Love”

12:44PM Jess McGuire | I had a tops weekend avoiding the mud at Meredith by staying in town, DJing up a cheesy storm until the wee hours at The Retreat, and then sharing the last beer left in the fridge at my darling friend Talei’s house and playing heaps of old records using something called “vinyl” (I think it’s pronounced “vin-ell”, WTF). Anyway, I cannot think of a more perfect song in the world to listen to at the end of an evening with rain pelting away outside than “Long Distance Love” by Little Feat. I’d only ever heard (the astonishingly gorgeous, by the way) cover by Mia Dyson, but fell madly for Lowell George’s charms within seconds. As I am wont to do from time to time, I thought I might give you kids a chance to dig my latest musical obsession. The only copy of the song on YouTube contains a strange image of a cat singing along. No, I don’t know why. It’s kind of a weird way to be introduced to the country-rock stylings of Little Feat – assuming you’re not familiar with the song – but hell. Whatever. Miming cats with shaved legs and bodies have a right to heart wrenching songs of yesteryear too. Also, remember how I said earlier this year that I would interview Ladyhawke before the year was through? GET YOSELVES READY. More »

Schapelle Corby Is The New Anthony Robbins

11:36AM Jess McGuire | Sometimes in this life, one is lucky enough to encounter a nugget of wisdom so profound, so utterly life altering, that your fleeting existence on this planet is never the same. So I am thrilled to tell you that not only was I truly blessed this morning when I opened up my paper and copped an eyeful of Today Tonight nemesis Mercedes Corby in a swimsuit, but the article accompanying the pants-razzing image contained incredibly moving advice given to Mercedes before the photo shoot by her incarcerated sister (and member of the Bali Smuggles Massive) Schapelle. Brace yourselves… Having laid low for the past six months following her multi-million dollar defamation payout from Channel 7, the Bali-based 33-year-old made a secret visit to Australia last month with her mum Rosalie Rose after Schapelle, who was a beauty school student, told her to do the revealing interview. It’s coming! It’s coming! More »

Naomi Watts Gives Australian Gossip Magazines A Brand New Infant To Obsess Over

9:23AM Jess McGuire | While I doubt the offspring of Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber is going to set the gossip rags on fire as much as Naomi’s best mate Nicole’s did, expect to see plenty of (paparazzi) photos and gushing commentary in your favourite mags now that the second – and as yet unnamed – Watts-Schreiber production has been launched. Aussie actress Naomi Watts and partner Liev Schreiber have welcomed their second child, a baby boy. “I can confirm that she had a baby boy yesterday,” a rep for the couple confirmed. They have yet to release the child’s name. Feels like it was only last year we met their firstborn, Alexander Pete. Oh wait! It was! Quick and tidy work, Liev and Naomi. Congratulations! Jessica Rowe Gets Boned Again!

8:39AM Jess McGuire | Poor old Jessica Rowe! It’s safe to say that the latest event in her career as a news reader probably won’t get a mention next time she compiles a list of ‘My Best Times’. You see, after a very famous ‘boning’ by Channel Nine, she’s had her (employment) heart broken again – this time by the (boss) lover who swore he’d treat her right, Seven! Newsreader Jessica Rowe – famously boned by former Nine Network chief Eddie McGuire in 2006 – has been sacked again, this time by the Seven Network. Rowe, 38, is reportedly angry at Seven’s decision not to renew her contract. A popular evening newsreader at the Ten Network before being poached by Nine to co-anchor the network’s Today show, Rowe was later picked up by Seven. Yes, I’d imagine “reports” that Jessica Rowe is pissed off about being axed for the second time in as many years are quite accurate. The “source” continues: More »
