Melissa George Forces Former McLeod’s Daughters Star To Abandon Her Blonde Locks
1:45PM Jess McGuire | Melissa George has gone head to head (or should I say hair to hair?) on the set of a new movie with Rachael Carpani, who Channel Nine viewers would lovingly recall portrayed one of McLeod’s thirty seven daughters on the popular program “back in the day”.
The result? Melissa George won (Alias + Grey’s Anatomy > Telstra’s Next G advertising campaign) and poor ol’ Rachael was forced to embrace her inner ginger.
The blonde leading the blonde is not a sentiment favoured by Melissa George, who reportedly demanded her co-star Rachael Carpani dye her “do” dark so she was the only fair-haired beauty on the set of their new flick.
Sources from behind the scenes of Christopher Smith’s new thriller Triangle, which was filmed on the Gold Coast earlier this year, said George requested the McLeod’s Daughters favourite – who was known for her goldilock tresses – dye her curls a vibrant red.
For real? Personally I reckon you’d get more blonde bang for your buck by letting Rachael hold onto her normal hair colour, and instead arranging the already “ginge-esque” Melissa George embrace her inner fiery red-headed vixen.

10:45AM Jess McGuire | The folks at SBS’s Top Gear are apparently in trouble with some big name car companies, with the Herald Sun reporting that the program caused over $200,000 worth of damage to vehicles which appeared in the first series of the show. Now that’s some good driving!
Filming of the Australian series of Top Gear has turned into a demolition derby with a repair bill close to $200,000. Eager driving and wild stunts have left a trail of destruction behind the Top Gear team that goes beyond the expected bill for bald tyres from slides and burnouts.
Luxury cars have needed total resprays because of flying stones, and lesser brands have reported damage from silly stunts created for the SBS TV series, which is unofficially confirmed for a second series in Australia in 2009.

8:45AM Jess McGuire | I wish that our first story for the week on Defamer Australia wasn’t so frightfully sad, but I’m afraid it is. Triple M radio personality Richard Marsland apparently took his own life over the weekend.
Fans and friends have paid tribute to Melbourne breakfast radio host Richard Marsland, who was found dead in his car on a lonely stretch of road in Victoria’s Dandenong Ranges.
A park ranger raised the alarm after finding the 32-year-old’s body in his car at Shiprock Falls around 10.30am (AEDT) on Saturday but despite police resuscitation efforts, Marsland was later pronounced dead.
