More Footage Of Nicole Kidman On Letterman
Our US counterparts posted a short clip of Nicole Kidman’s rather awkward time chatting to David Letterman on his CBS talk show, but is two minutes enough to judge if you unfortunately missed her appearance when the program was broadcast in Australia? I think not.
Here is Part One of Nicole Kidman promoting Australia on Letterman, and Part Two is after the jump.
You know, much like when Meg Ryan was interviewed by Michael Parkinson all those years ago and everyone said she was horrendous, I actually don’t think Nicole is all that bad in this appearance at all. I mean, considering the car wrecks we’ve seen on air in recent years, its not like Nicole flashed her breasts at David and then passed out drunk on the floor! Perspective, people!

She bores the hell out of me. Always the same, always plastic, vapid, boring…
I thought this was very funny. I saw the whole thing and while Nicole seemed uncomfortable and embarrassed at the time, I thought she did handle it well and Dave just seemed to want to make her feel like that. They say you can always judge how much Dave likes you by how long he keeps you on for, so Nicole must be well thought of by Dave. Not so much Simon Baker, who got the short shrift in the next segment. There were a lot of laughs in Nicole’s segment, maybe that’s cos I like to see her squirm a bit. I saw her interviewed by David Stratton and she was like a different person. She seems to be one of those actors who love to talk about their work and not so much their personal life. Can’t blame her for that. The morning after this aired they were talking about in on Sunrise and saying how bad it was. Get over it Mel, Kochie and Nelson, you idiots.
I have seen the movie ‘AUSTRALIA’ yesterday, it truly was a rare and exceptional film.
I will never forget the experience and the real insightful look into the history of Australia.
I found the movie transport you into a place were you experience real life emotional turmoil,
death, heartache, grief, compassion, ultimate acts of hatred, racism, showing a true reflection of the stolen generation, injustice, human beings at their worst, plus human beings at their
exceptional best and potential, breathtaking scenery, sincere touches of warmth, heartfelt expressions of innocence, real love, turmoil within the human spirit, transformation, delightful
moments of joy, touches of magic, great humour and laughter, sensitivity and respect towards aboriginal culture and spirituality.
This is a rare piece of creativity that touches the heart in a subtle but powerful way.
Thank you Baz Luhrmann for your rare insightful movie of Australia …. I jumped with fright, laughed loudly, cried with sadness and from a place of great joy.
This is a REALLY SPECIAL FILM.
Nicole was great; it was Dave who was making her feel uncomfortable and weird..he talked about Keith the WHOLE TIME! I thought she handled it really well and tried to make the interview go somewhere, unlike Dave..
A comment on 3RRR radio in Melb this morn was that Dave didn’t want to talk about the movie because he didn’t like it. It would have been a great promo just to say Nic had a new movie and then have her chat away at leisure about anything. Anyway, whatever motivated Dave’s questions, I thought the interview was almost hilarious and great television. The one real crossed-wires was that Dave referred to Paul Hogan only as Crocodile Dundee, and Nic thought he was talking about Hogan’s character rather than Hogan’s role in advertsing Australia. But that was kind of smoothed over. Simon Baker’s final comment, on the other hand, “fat chance of that Dave”, (a bit harsh and possibly in a perceived defence of Nic), seemed to bring about an abrupt end to his interview. As for ‘Australia’, huge hype is always risky.
I saw this and thought both were acting odd. But Nicole didn’t seem to pick up on dave teasing her and joking. She just acted nervous and laughed a lot and couldn’t think of more than 1-2 words. Maybe she is to use to ready scripts and having people tell her what to say, that she can’t think on her own?
I wanted to hear more about the movie and Keith. But she just couldn’t spit it out. Spacey!
