Jemaine Clements Is A Dad!

Good god. Week Old News Desk TM here with a hot off the presses report – Flight Of The Conchords heartthrob Jemaine Clements and his missus Miranda Manasiadis (remember when they got married in August?) have welcomed their first joint production, a wee baby boy, into the world! In New York! A month ago!

Flight of the Conchords Kiwi comedy star Jemaine Clement and his new wife are celebrating the birth of their first child together.

And you’ll never guess what they named their newborn son… no, really. You won’t.

Clement’s wife, Wellington actress and playwright Miranda Manasiadis, gave birth to their son, Sophocles Iraia Manasiadis Clement, in New York last month.

The pair weren’t being trendy though, like those crazy Hollywood types who give their kids weird names for a lark. Sophocles Iraia has been named after family.

Sophocles was named after one of Manasiadis’s Greek grandfathers. Iraia is understood to be the name of one of Clement’s grandparents.

The baby is adorable, we’re told. As though the ladies around the world who have spent many happy hours imagining what their Jemaine-genes carrying offspring would look like need to be told.

Sophocles has been described as magnificently cute, with his father’s lips.

I’ll keep my eyes peeled on celebrity baby websites just on the offchance they publish a picture of the big-lipped munchkin. Who am I kidding? I read celebrity baby websites because they’re HORRIBLY ADDICTIVE and my uterus is crying and writing bad poetry about how lonely and empty it is as we speak.

Dude, just coz you play a weirdo on TV, and have a weird name, doesn’t mean you should curse your kid for life. Sophocles? People are going to laugh at him
