New Unauthorised Keith Urban Biography Reveals Tommy Emmanuel Is Either The Nicest Guy In The World, Or Incredibly Insincere When Flying
There’ a great story about Tommy Emmanuel and Nicole Kidman’s country lovin’ husband Keith Urban in Christie Eliezer’s column for themusic.com.au this week, which I found incredibly amusing.
The prolific ex-”Rolling Stone Australia” editor turned author Jeff Apter has another book on the shelves in January — “Fortunate Son: The Unlikely Rise of Keith Urban” through Random House. It’s not authorised but Apter charmed himself into the country singer’s inner circle.
Tommy Emmanuel tells the story when a teenage Urban (not sure if he still had the Billy Idol from Caboolture look at the time) caught a flight with him, and Emmanuel suggested he should move to America. On the return flight, Emmanuel sat next to James Blundell — and gave him the same spiel. We know how that rivalry ended up
We do indeed. Keith and his future wife – a Hollywood starlet, no less! – end up on the cover of magazines due to a nation embracing their love wholeheartedly (and questioning the name of their first child), whilst James Blundell loses all his hair and has his face plastered over the covers of lady magazines with the words “CONFESSIONS OF A LOVE RAT” in large font beside him.

yeah Keith & Nicole, are the best parents to their baby sunday!!!
Was the James Blunt mention a whoops-like thing or a clever reference to the cad-ish ways of the former military man turned sooky love songster being similar to that of James “Way of West” Blundell’s ditching of his wife and mother of his children in favour of an Aussie Idol reject? I’m going to assume the latter cause I like you guys.
ED: I think we can attribute that fuck up to a number of things. An unhealthy obsession with James Blunt on this site, a horrible lack of caffeine in the system when I wrote the above post, and some lingering feelings of confusion and idiocy after a botched attempt to make poached eggs for breakfast this morning for the first time using cling-wrap and instinct. I am no chef, and not much chop when it comes to reading through drafts of things before hitting publish!
