Marcia Hines Is Furious About Richard E. Grant’s Bleak Career Predictions For Idol Contestants

Uh-oh! The Marcia God is laying the smackdown on My Fair Lady actor Richard E. Grant, who you’ll remember made some rather sobering and depressing predictions about the future careers of our current crop of Australian Idols (well, sobering and depressing unless some of our Idols actually desire to work in the food industry, specifically the production of fried chicken).

Marcia is completely unimpressed with Richard’s comments, and isn’t afraid to say so publicly.

Australian Idol nice gal Marcia Hines might be full of kind words for contestants on the show, but she’s shown another side after the karaoke-fest came in for some criticism from top British actor Richard E. Grant.

I believe you’ll find a young lass from Bega named Chanel Cole who’ll vouch the appearance of Marcia’s ferocious bitch side long before Richard E. Grant decided to try his hand at musical theatre/shattering the youthful dreams of singers, but I get your point, Daily Telegraph.

She flew to the defence of her brood after comments ring-in mentor Grant made to Sydney Confidential last week.

Hines slammed the British actor, currently in Australia to play Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady, for telling her charges Idol was likely to lead them into careers at KFC.

“That’s vicious. That’s totally vicious,” Hines said.

While Grant has received accolades for his career on stage and screen, which has included roles in over 70 films, Hines said he was in no position to comment on the Australian talent show. “I don’t know who he is and I don’t really care who he is,” Hines said.

You don’t know who Richard E. Grant is, Ms Hines? Didn’t the producers slip you a brief bio for the man before he appeared on the program? Unprofessional!

Oh and one more thing, Marcia. You say that Richard E. Grant is in no position to comment on Australian Idol, but isn’t that exactly what you (and by you, I obviously mean the producers of the show) specifically asked of him when you arranged for him to appear on the program as a mentor in the first place? You can’t cry if he’s dragged into your world and doesn’t happen to like it.
