Like A Cockroach Of The Airwaves, Alan Jones Will Still Be Broadcasting Long After The Rest Of Humankind Is Dead And Buried

Alan Jones will never retire – never! Admittedly, the top dog of radio took a break this year to battle prostate cancer, but he’s back and clearly never planning to leave his easily panicked elderly listeners again. He’s just signed another contract with 2GB which will see The Parrot rambling on passionately about anything which tickles his fancy until 2013.

Rumours of Alan Jones’ retirement have been greatly exaggerated, with the prostate cancer survivor today committing to a new deal with 2GB until 2013.

The 67-year-old’s latest contract includes performance elements for the first time – a financial reward for his continued breakfast radio dominance.

Jones has maintained his stranglehold on the top spot in the most competitive timeslot on Sydney radio, despite months of sick leave after being diagnosed with prostate cancer in May.

Even though listening to him makes me want to stab my ears with a rusty blade, I can’t help but congratulate the man for refusing to let illness drag him down. I wish he would let it refuse to drag him down in the privacy of his own home rather than in front of a microphone, but thems the breaks.
