Former Australian Idol Contestant Levi Kereama Dies After Falling From Hotel Balcony In Brisbane
It always feels a bit horrible to start the week with tragic news, but sadly we must. Levi Kereama, a fellow Australian Idol viewers would remember from the very first season of the show, died on Saturday night after jumping from a hotel balcony in Brisbane.
Says the Daily Telegraph:
Levi Kereama… plunged to his death from a Brisbane hotel on Saturday night. Just hours earlier the 27-year-old had played at the Parklife Festival in Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens and Riverstage.
Kereama is believed to have been suffering from depression, although it is not known if he was receiving medication for his illness.
And more from NineMSN:
When the 27-year-old jumped, hotel guests mistakenly believed they had seen furniture being thrown from the building.
“We thought it was like a computer desk or a coffee table or something being thrown out the window,” Grace Pearce told National Nine News.
My thoughts go out to Levi’s family and friends during what must be a truly terrible time for them.

This is pretty irresponsible reporting of a tragedy. Who told you he “jumped”? The family are completely denying he was depressed or that his death was intentional. It’s bad form to have a bunch of young kids think their hero ‘topped’ himself when it’s clearly being denied.
If the poor b*gger had a few drinks to relax, sat on the railing and lost his balance, it really is a lousy thing to be spreading untruths. More respect for him and his family, and fewer made-up embellishments at times like this please.
ED: Erm, this was based on the initial reports, Deb. Check the date. Our later entries about Levi reflect the updated information. But your noble quest to trawl the internet for old news only to haughtily correct them with recent information impresses me. Please warn the Czech people about that Adolf bloke.
