What Were We Saying About Daniel MacPherson Mozzing ‘Dancing’?

Tina and Daniel.jpgOkay, it’s probably a bit unfair that we’ve been waging war against Daniel MacPherson for taking over Daryl Somers’ Dancing With The Stars hosting duties, it’s just that when we heard Larry Emdur and/or Andrew O’Keefe were in the mix, well, MacPherson just feels like sloppy thirds. But call it coincidence or fate, either way, since he took the gig (and it almost certainly has nothing to do with the show moving to Sunday night where it’s competing against Idol and Sixty Minutes), Dancing’s ratings have dived. And they just keep going down!

The now Daniel MacPherson-hosted show owned and occupied Tuesday nights for the past four years but plunged to fourth in its third week in its Sunday slot.

ABC1’s ever-ancient Doctor Who (1.17 million capital city viewers) pushed it into fourth, 60 Minutes (1.7 million) topped the slot while Australian Idol (1.22 million) was second.

Fourth was the worst-ever result for DWTS and its overall audience the lowest ever. It saw Seven run third overall, reports media writer Marcus Casey.

In truth, I quite enjoy Dancing, but now that it’s on Sundays, I haven’t watched a second of it – why would you, when Idol is back and – I’ll admit it – better than ever? Even in the ad-breaks, I’m much more likely to switch to Nine than Seven. What about you – do you care about Dancing anymore? Should they bring back Tom Williams and get him to take his top off again?

Are you kidding Idol sucks without loopy Holden.
SYTYCD killed this stumbling around by nobodies, but the real death of both Idol & DWTS is Doctor Who served for delish dessert on sundays.
The Doctor is wooohoo, all wonderful fantastic mini movies each week with sexy awesome stars – no contest, it’s th ebest thing TV has seen for decades.
Then when Who is over I can get a serve of Sonia and some clumsy efforts that make you wince now we have been watching real dancers make magic on SYTYCD, I just focus on the pros like Henry & Szaba adn try to block out the hasbeens.
