The Brisbane Broncos Players Under Investigation For Sexual Assault Have Been Named

Following on from revelations yesterday that three Brisbane Broncos players were under investigation by police after a woman claimed she’d been assaulted by the trio at a Fortitude Valley nightclub on Saturday night, the men at the centre of the scandal have been named.

Broncos and Queensland State of Origin stars Karmichael Hunt, Darius Boyd and Sam Thaiday were allegedly named by a 24-year-old woman in a sexual assault complaint made to police on Saturday night.

Details of the alleged incident are after the jump (and make me feel a little bit sicky, to be honest).

The three were allegedly engaged in sexual acts with the woman in the toilet of a Brisbane nightclub and she complained to police after one of the players allegedly began filming with a mobile phone.

Oh, capturing it on your phone? THAT’S always a good idea. Classy work, fellas. Did Sonny Bill and Candice suffer in vain?

Sources told The Daily Telegraph the three engaged in oral sex with a woman in the men’s toilets of the Alhambra Lounge after a day of drinking at the Story Bridge Hotel. Two of the players are then alleged to have had sexual intercourse with the woman while the third recorded the acts on a mobile phone camera.

Is this really how rugby league players like to bond? Seriously?

Police said they received a complaint from the woman on Saturday night which was followed up on Sunday with a written statement from the woman alleging she had been raped.

I’m still a bit confused about all this. The article originally says the woman complained to police after one of the players started filming her with a mobile phone while she performed a sex act on another player. The sex act bit sounds incredibly gross and degrading, but, at least in the the way the Daily Telegraph has initially described it, consensual.

Later, the Daily Telegraph says just that the woman contacted police and claimed she’d been raped. Are there two different versions of events going around, or am I missing something?

Either way, this story is totally depressing.
