JetstarGate: Our Source Speaks Out, Claims Jetstar Employee Was “Polite And Professional”
Will this story never die? Not while there’s a chance of it winning me a Walkley, which is extremely likely considering it involves swear words, a Neighbours star, and minimal “investigationing” (that’s the word journos use, isn’t it? Ryan Shelton is a proper reporter, yeah?) on my part.
I contacted our source who claims to have witnessed Carla Bonner getting unreasonably surly toward a Jetstar flight attendant (something Carla Bonner denies) and urged him to speak up and tell me the truth. Had he embellished the story a little? Had anything not come across correctly in his first version of events, and is it possible Carla could rightly believe she’d been misrepresented? I mean, we may be a playful “online blog”, but we have some sense of decency. If anything needs to be clarified and publicly amended, we’re more than willing to do it.
Our source has just gotten back to us and admitted that there are a few things he’d like to change in his story. Gripped? Why wouldn’t you be! It’s JetstarGate!Firstly, he has said that the comment which helpfully suggested the flight attendant shove a bag up his anal passage was not in fact made by Carla Bonner, but rather her boyfriend Jason Shepherd. However, our source adds “the ‘queen’ comment was Bonner, which I find more important due to how it shows clear signs of hostility towards homosexuals. I personally think that that has been given less focus than it should.”
Perhaps it has. Although I’d assume that despite her alleged insult of choice not being particularly charming, Carla’s quite okay with The Gays considering she’s chosen to work in the entertainment industry.
Anyway. Our source has talked it over with another friend who also witnessed the incident, and this is their final, completely 100% correct, they-simply-could-not-stand-by-it-more, version of what happened.
Shepherd was asked to put his bag “on the measuring unit”. The bag looked pretty big, not typical hand luggage-size anyway and far too big for the conditions of this CHEAP flight. I guess he was asked to open it up, because he loudly and aggressively asked the flight attendant what right he had to check his bag. What happened next was that Shepherd measured the bag while the flight attendant looked away, and when Shepherd was told to put it back, he replied “How about I put it up your arse?”.
When the attendant checked to see if he’d heard right, he repeated ” how about a take my f*****g luggage and put it up your f*****g anal passage!”. The flight attendant then had Shepherds (I don’t think he took Bonners) boarding pass and denied him/them the flight. Which probably would have happened anyway since the bag was too big. This was when Bonner called the flight attendant “a fuckwit” and told him “- this is bullshit”. When she was told to tone down, she followed up with “shut up, you fucking queen”.
One thing I just thought I’d add that since Bonner told the Telegraph that he probably regrets his behavior. I know I really sound pro-flight attendant (which I am) but let it be known that he never replied in the same tone. He was polite and professional all the way. He has nothing to regret whatsoever.
And there you have it.

I have it on good authority that Jasons bag was ok`d at check in and that it was only on boarding that this happened. If check in staff were ok with it why should another attendant query it.
Jason is coloured, perhaps that has more to do with it than anything else.
Apologies are necessary surely,. The anal comments were attributed to Carla, which made it sound bad for her. Her comments, made after Jason was denied access to the flight seem pretty reasonable. Indeed I might have made a similar comment were I being told my boyfriend couldn`t access the flight.
Um, coloured? Are you serious? The fact that you admit the likelihood that you would behave in a similar fashion is entirely reasonably. Why wouldn’t you? There is clearly not enough homophobic bellowing at lowly paid airline employees. They should show more respect. With cheap tickets comes great responsibility. I like your punctuation by the way, it’s great,’!
So I`m not allowed the odd typing error?
Yes I may have sworn and cursed if I was denied entry to the flight after I was checked in. The queen comment?. So it`s not ok to be homophobic but fine to be racist.
Yes I was being serious about it. If the check in attendant felt the bag was ok, why was it questioned again.
I was there when this happened and the fact the bag didn’t fit in the test unit breaches the policy of this ticket. If you were there you would have seen the Flight attendant put other passengers bags of all colours into the test unit too. So your comment about the colour is pathetic and not true. There was no problem they just simply wanted to put the bag into the hold with no extra charge. The problem arrised when their behaviour became inappropriate. NO airline will accept behaviour like this, whether it’s a low-cost airline or not. Anyways who wants to travel with people like this who have no respect for rules because they think they are above everyone else because they are a C Grade Celebrity. An oversized bag if it falls out of a locker can possibly kill someone. It’s not Jetstars fault people don’t understand that.
