'The Hills': 5 Reasons We Can't Get Behind Lo Anymore
Posted by Defamer Hollywood at 7:40 AM on August 27, 2008
Though it pains us to say this, we think we may be over Lo Bosworth, the incipient villainess of The Hills' fourth season. When we first met Lo, she was amongst the most breezy members of Hills forerunner Laguna Beach, but there's no place for cute quips on The Hills when out-and-out bitchery will win the day. That, ultimately, is what makes Lo's transformation all the more frustrating — though she has settled into her role as Audrina's archrival for their friend Lauren's attention, her irritating machinations are actually making us root for the blank blogger (and that's saying a lot). With the help of Molly McAleer, we pored over last night's episode and put together a list of the top five reasons we simply can't support Lo anymore. Lo, you're on notice: we're officially frienemies now. [MTV]

Speaking of Nietzschean, she is sporting a Nuremberg Rally hair and makeup look, isn't she?

I never understood why everyone thought Lo was so great -- she always seemed like an underhanded biatch frenemy supremeo (that's a technical term).

Molls, they don't pay near enough money to have to deal with this mind-numbing horseshit.

It would have been unreasonable to expect Lo to avoid the psychosis that eventually plagues every member of "The Hills" cast, to varying degrees, as a result of being followed by cameras and fake drama. I think that because Lo actually started out with slightly more depth than the other characters, her decent into madness feels more sinister.

That screencap is fucking Oscar-worthy. Seriously, that's some Bette Davis shit she's channeling there. The 'do and the 'tude and the LOOK. I don't even watch this show,I imagine this is how these people speak, btw.

I don't know why, but I remain surprised that people actually watch this. I just can't fathom it, even on a sneering ironic level.

Clearly Lo is angling to up her salary next season. It's obvious she is pissed about that measly 10K per ep.

@Ernst Stavro Blofeld: It's just a soap. With almost real people.

It's hard to take her seriously with that wonky eye. Her attempts at a menacing stare are just plain laughable.

@Tiger_Tanaka: This show is not real. My cousin has dated the 'real' Lo on and off for over a year, she's not like she's portrayed on the Hills. That being said, I still watch it even though it is not real. Shame

@RocketRockit: People love sarcasm when directed toward annoying people. Look around the internets - people think it's funny to be mean all the time. It's just that when this snarkiness, meanness, or sarcasm is directed toward someone that we like, then suddenly that person is evil. And Audrina's portrayed as this sad, adorable puppy.
What I don't understand is why people on tv are expected to be perfect at all times. Once they show their not, the claws come out.

@metoometoo: I've liked Lo ever since season 1 of Laguna, when she took Lauren's dad's side in an argument and scolded Lauren for nearly flunking out of school.
I'd like to pretend I'm embarrassed for being interested in the Hills, but I'm a cog in the legal wheel who surfs the internet all day in desperate, futile hopes of avoiding work, so it's really all I've got much of the time.

If this is all partially scripted anyway can't they have real problems? Someone give them real problems! An STD. Death. Cancer. Anything. Pleaaaase.

@remedios: Oh, I totally see that -- but I still don't understand why everyone was so damn happy when Lo came on The Hills. People were like, "Lo is so real! Lo is just what we need!" Ugh.
In any case, I stopped watching The Hills last season because I realized it was eating my soul. But, clearly, I'm still thinking about it.

@RocketRockit: LO! is just what The Hills needed but since the producers already have a fun, bubbly best friend (Whitney), Lo is getting the "bitch edit" (that's also a technical term). Still love her.
