Tennessee Williams's Formative Gay-Repression Years Subject Of New Biodrama
Posted by Seth at 6:05 AM on August 13, 2008
· Taylor Hackford is set to direct Tenn, about Tennessee Williams's formative years. It's being financed by the same company that brought you Capote, the second part of their planned Great Sissies of History trilogy that will conclude with the harrowing fitness-empire biodrama, Simmons. [Variety]
· Author Plum Sykes is co-writing a sitcom pilot for NBC called Mogulettes, about young, beautiful she-captains of industry. No one remotely suspects what they're hiding in their pantyhose! [Variety]
· The End of Ideas: We Can't Even Really Be Bothered To Type Out The Rest of This Etc. Etc. Edition: A TV version of The Witches of Eastwick gets a pilot pickup at ABC. [Variety]
· Starz's Vongo and Morgan Freeman's ClickStar both shutter their internet-movie-download operations. [Variety]
· Oh, for the love of God: "CBS is saying aloha to a new installment of the Hawaii Five-O franchise from Criminal Minds exec producer/showrunner Ed Bernero." Aloha means goodbye in this instance, we hope. [THR]

Actually, it's just like Star Wars: First has to be Capote/Williams/Vidal trilogy. THEN comes Paul Lynde/Rip Taylor/Charles Nelson Reilly. Lastly, the Richard Simmons/Nathan Lane/Bruce Vilanch three-parter puts a stake through the heart of the whole thing. At that point Rupert Everett heaves a sigh of relief so HUGE that a tsunami floods Fire Island, Key West and Laguna beach.

@derby: it's the Cecilia Ahern/Candace Bushnell effect.

It's no great limb I'm climbing out on to declare that Plum Sykes' 'sitcom pilot' is going to be awful. 'Mogulettes'? Really? 'Mogulettes'? Might as well call it 'Cashmere Mafia' and call it a day.

It's another trilogy for Ian McKellan. Oh, and please leave Seth alone. As a leading sissy, he can write whatever he likes about our sissy community.

Oh dear God... I fucking HATE Plum Sykes. That bitch thinks she is deep but is shallower than a kiddie pool.

@Lulamaybelle: Makes Helen Fielding look like Doris Fucking Lessing.
@Seth: Capote has a blog, much like Orwell now does. Both are on Wordpress.com:

Will Mr. Hackford squeeze all of the life, angst and mystery from the biopic of Tennesee as he did in the biopic of Ray Charles...
I mean, I can't BELIEVE he's married to Helen Mirren, I mean, my GOD MAN...your movies should be as HOT AS YOUR WIFE!!!
