Sarah Palin vs. Liz Lemon: Who'd Make the Better Veep?
Posted by Defamer Hollywood at 4:38 AM on August 30, 2008
Shocking news today as John McCain refuted his choice of Heidi Montag as vice president, instead settling on heavily lip-glossed Alaskan governor Sarah Palin. As Jeff Wells notes, Palin has a certain resemblance to Tina Fey as Liz Lemon: the horn-rimmed glasses, the messy up-do, the required fealty to an older, conservative man in charge. But where does each stand on the issues? We combed through their records (and Hulu) to find out — the results, after the jump:
QUALIFICATIONS
Palin: Former mayor of a small Alaska town, she was elected governor of the state in 2006 and has served less than two years in that office.
Lemon: "Who's got two thumbs, speaks limited French, and hasn't cried once today? This moi."
GAY MARRIAGE
Palin: Against gay marriage and supports a federal gay marriage ban.
Lemon: "Just because I think gay dudes should be allowed to adopt kids and we should all have hybrid cars doesn't mean I don't love America."
THE ECONOMY
Palin: Believes that the Republicans can help get the economy and markets back on track, aimed to reduce general fund spending in Alaska by $150 million.
Lemon: "I've got, like, 12 grand in checking."
EXES
Palin: The Alaska legislature is investigating whether she put pressure on a state official to fire her ex-brother-in-law, a state trooper.
Lemon: "Last week was my birthday and everyone forgot except Dennis. He called and we went out and it wasn't weird."
Jenna: "And how was the sex?"
Lemon: "Fast and only on Saturdays--it's perfect!"
In conclusion, Barack Obama must immediately retract his nomination of Joe Biden, thus leaving him free to appoint fictional character Liz Lemon the new vice president of the Unites States of America.

@Pardon_The_Bad_Post: Yes, Barack did do coke and smoked some weed in his youth. He wrote about it in his books, and in my link you see that Ms. Palin has spoken openly about her past use of marijuana. My point is that the GOP should remember this as they try to paint her as some squeaky clean hockey mom in the coming weeks.
The larger point is that McCain choosing Palin was an insulting pander to women, and a sad attempt to come across as a progressive, advocate of women when Mr. McCain has voted against Equal Pay for Equal Work. I could go on, but I think my argument would be wasted on you.

I can understand the gay marriage ban. It's Alaska, the male:female ratio is 10:1, and gay marriage would ruin it for the women. Not to mention they have actual "bears" up there.

Palin wants to force parasites into the wombs of women, and then keep them there.
So she's happy she decided to go through to birth with a child she knew had Down's syndrome. That was her "choice". Why should she try to force other women to do the same, filling their bodies with a parasite for almost a year, then seeing it rip out of their groin, a being made of themselves and a man who may not love them? With her logic, it would be okay to force abortions on women who want to keep their babies, too, if it is okay to force babies on women who don't want them.

There's one candidate in this election with balls the size of Alpha Centauri. Predictably, it's a woman.
While certainly bad news if you're a Polar Bear, the Environment, Gay, or faced with an unwanted pregnancy, any administration that potentially positions Palin in the Oval Office has real opportunity to shake Washington in ways heretofore unimagined. This dame plays hard-ball and has a history of holding her own GOP accountable to the same litmus test she'd hold the Dems to. Palin's beloved at virtual every level of constituency for keeping her campaign promises.
There's a lot more to be said, but my level of interest in this Election just kicked up a couple of notches.

"Pro Life" needs to be clarified as "Pro Embryonic Life." Republicans get juiced up over war, bombing, death, and dead Iraqi babies. They mistakenly believe it was Iraqi babies who flew those planes into those buildings.
McCain's VP choice has less relevant experience than Bush did, and is not ready to lead this country on day one, but who cares - at least she hates the gays.

Because Obama's experience consists of getting elected to the Senate four years ago and running for President for the last three and a half. The difference being, is that he's running for President, and she's not.
Just to be fair and all. I hate the fact that people have to constantly debunk the other side, as if all the wisdom in the world is the province of one political party or the other.

Relevant experience requires much more than under 2 years of "executive" experience in one of our least populated states or mayor of a small town. McCain is delusional if he thinks she's ready to be Commander in Chief.
She has zero foreign policy experience, zero experience in either state or US congress, and changes her story based on which direction the winds are blowing:

Relevant experience. Can anyone describe her experience relevant to being VP of the United States?
Clearly, McCain picked her to muddy the experience discussion. All those voices who previously drummed on about Obama's "lack" of experience are predictably quiet about Palin's thin resume.
It might help if she knew what the job entails, though. Larry Kudlow of CNBC's "Kudlow & Co" asked her about the possibility of becoming McCain's running mate.
Palin replied: "As for that VP talk all the time, I'll tell you, I still can't answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day."

You kinda forgot one: a vice president is a person whose primary responsibility is to replace the president on the event of his or her death, resignation or incapacity.
If I left a job interview and said, "I don't know what the job duties of that job are," would you say I'm qualified? Totally the wrong answer. Palin=FAIL.
McCain's judgment is highly suspect, and picking a person extremely not qualified just to stir up "excitement" is the nail in his political coffin. Palin - no national leadership experience, no foreign policy experience, barely two years of "executive" experience. For McCain, it's politics first, country way down the list.
Just say No Way, No How, No McCain on Nov. 4.

the lefty media already are starting the sexist hilary-esque attacks on her. you should have seen bill maher slamming her on inexperience while he fawned over obama. and he slammed her in ways that would apply to obama even more, but he would never in a million years say in that way, i guess thats the deep seated sexism that is being revealed in the left this campaign season.
