I don't watch news shows, so for all I know, Anderson's show could be retarded, but I will say that Anderson deserves credit for daring to laugh genuinely on TV; you can easily tell when he thinks something is funny. When he was on Conan, he really did think Conan's misuse of Anderson's own book was funny. Most morning hosts and evening blowhards only do controlled and strategic laughing, either scripted and fake or pejorative and forced. It says a lot about a person that he can personally enjoy humor instead of just feel comfortable (or, worse, uncomfortable) in the presence of it.

i met anderson once in west hollywood (don't go there; we were in a music store) and we talked for about 15 minutes. he seems to be a really nice guy. i love the fact that he was taking the piss out of the Lohans...that was so catty of him! (ok, i went a little bit there myself).
