Preemptive Australian Idol Round-Up: James Spargo Is Your New God

After everyone enjoyed our first Australian Idol 2008 missive yesterday, I couldn't stop watching the Idol promo - and, like many of you, became fascinated by the winning chap at the 0:27 mark, whose performance of the line "loving each other wholeheartedly" is sure to go down in the annals of Australian music as one of its greatest moments. Well, another Idol promo/teaser has surfaced that gives us a little more of an insight into this champion (as well as 23 of his fellow entrants; whatever). Ladies and gentlemen, at the 0:27 mark (again!) and 0:54, I give you James Spargo:
For real, I think Spargo is my new favourite person in the world. The double finger guns? You are ALREADY our new Australian Idol! And look! Look! He's even the default image for the trailer on YouTube:
Surely it's a sign. However, if I may harsh the buzz for a moment, the most worrying part of all this is that the 24 people in the Can You Feel It promo are not necessarily in the Top 24 - in fact, they are not necessarily in the Top 100! People of Australia, treasured members of the Defamer Australia family, how can we ensure that James Spargo ends up on our televisions for the second half of 2008? I propose a letter-writing campaign. I'll take Kevin Rudd and Channel Ten HQ, you take Fremantle Media and Simon Fuller. Together we can make it happen!

To be honest I hope he wins because I know him in person and he is a real great guy and this is his first and last shot at australian Idol. Lets go James!!

James Spargo is not a talent at all, he's playing up his story way to much, fake and a loser

Its people like James Spargo and his finger guns, sorry, double finger guns, that make me feel proud to be Australian and will help me go on just another day.

What a champion I haven't heard him sing but, what an awesome name. I'll be backing him all the way to the end.

Please tell me this is a joke? He has the personality of a wet cloth. The producers might as well have entered a plank of wood with eyebrows on the stage and just to prove how pathetic the general public is.

i think James Spargo has real talent and could have gone further into this competition had the judges not complained about him not fitting into one specific genre...
