Maybe She Was Just Waiting For Him To Flap A Dickie Long Time

Tina Sparkle.pngIt's shaping up to look like Beijing 2008 is just not going to be Tina Sparkle's Olympics. After she was hooted at for asking whether 48kg meant the weight-lifters lifted or weighed 48kg (one would think a reasonable question... sort of), Sonia Kruger has found herself in the hosting deep end again - although this time, because of what she didn't say rather than what she did. Confused yet? Read on.

Seven's Sonia Kruger left fellow hosts on Olympic program Yum Cha stunned with her reaction to Simon Reeve's confession of an honest slip-up yesterday.

Commentator Reeve was describing his embarrassment after he unintentionally used the expression "chink in the armour," to call a fall by a Chinese gymnast. Kruger showed her platinum potential when she couldn't fathom what was wrong with Reeve's expression.

Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but surely making a fuss out of a slip-up like that only cements the potential offense caused? Maybe Tina Sparkle was just trying to keep things rolling along, nothing to see here? You know, if Reeve had followed up by saying, "Me rikey velly much plesenting the terevision", and so on, maybe she would've sprung into action?

Then again, what with their "Rice Crackers" and "Steaming Rice" headlines, our national media is already doing a pretty good job of that!

I can't get over how upset all the sports tragics are getting over the 7 coverage.
I like sonia, she's funny and has enough irreverence for the job. Loved Hamish and Andy's bit on Yum Cha too.
Lighten up, it's still only people swimming up and down or throwing themselves around on some gym equipment.
In case you haven't noticed, there's some real issues out there to get worried about!

I think Sonia is embarrassingly dumb. Her commentary of the opening ceremony showed she had undertaken no research. What was a spectacle sight was not given the credit it deserved because of the unprofessional manner the commentors took.

the olympics are on now and we are reduced to wathcing a mundane footy game or checking the internet for updates on Olympic action. The Olympics is the greatest event on earth and channel 7 decide it is not important enough for us to watch.
