Australian Idol Round-Up: Vesna Is Not Amused

Thumbnail image for AustralianIdol.jpgOld-timer Big Brother fans would’ve been thrilled to see the nation’s favourite hairdresser and fan of “intimate wash” pop up on Australian Idol the other night. However, the pint-sized firecracker was not there to sing, but to support her boyfriend Sebastian Pluchinotta – and what happened next was typical of the show’s increasingly dodgy “direction”. To wit, Dicko and Kyle were not satisfied that Pluchinotta was straight, and made him sing his chosen song directly to Vesna’s face; Dicko then mock-stormed out, evidently in protest of the massive amounts of gaydar his antennae were picking up (I picked up roughly 5% gaydar, and that was from the loving looks Dicko and Kyle were giving each other). Pluchinotta did not get through. Unsurprisingly, Vesna is pissed, and is letting everyone know about it.

“We’ve been made a mockery of,” Tofevska said. “He sang another song before they called me in, but they only aired the silly song we sang together. This could affect his career.”

A Ten spokeswoman was apologetic yesterday, saying: “Ten has a long association with Vesna and we have the utmost respect for her.”

Well, Ten may well, but it’s safe to say Dicko and Kyle don’t. There is an easy solution to this problem, however: strap Kyle and Dicko down and tell Vesna to work her worst Northland Shopping Centre rooster cut and frosting job on both of their heads before – oh. I just realised, they already have Northland Shopping Centre rooster cuts! Perhaps she can just give them cornrows and make sure the beads at the end of the braids are filled with lice, then.

Surely at this stage in the Idol game being kicked out early on guarantees more of a career than being dragged through the protracted death-throes of being in the top 20 and the eternal limbo of the public’s future indifference?

Vesna should be sending Kyle and Dicko flowers and a thank-ye card.
