Gay Wrestling And Rioting Rednecks: We're Going Out On A Limb And Guessing Sacha Baron Cohen Is Involved
Posted by Seth at 4:05 AM on July 9, 2008
Just one day after an Israeli political blogger's account of being ambushed in Jerusalem by Sacha Baron Cohen's voguing/strudel-loving alter ego was devoured by the Bruno-obsessed internets, comes news of strange events going down at a fair grounds in Little Rock that would appear to have the swarthy British prankster's riot-inciting fingerprints all over it. Arriving for what was billed on posters (pictured above) as "Blue Collar Brawlin': Hot Chicks, Cold Beer, Hardcore Fights," local cage-match fans instead got a generous helping of a different kind of man-on-man action:
Fort Smith police Sgt. Adam Holland said organizers told him a character named "Straight Dave" would goad a planted audience member into the ring for a fight. The two men would then wrestle, rip away some of their clothes and share a brief kiss [...]
An elaborate array of mounted and handheld video cameras caught the crowd of 1,600's reaction as the two men "went right up to the line" of the city's morality laws, Holland said. The two men stripped down to their underwear, kissed and rubbed on each other, the sergeant said. The audience, as well as local fighters drawn to take part in the show, became enraged. "It set the crowd off lobbing beers," Holland said. "They had beers in plastic cups. Those things can get some distance on them actually."
Holland said it took officers about 45 minutes to clear the convention centre, as the two actors sprinted away through a specially set-aside tunnel.
While the comedian's camp refuses to acknowledge or deny having any part in the stunt, there's no questioning it bears all the hallmarks of an SBC production: outraged rednecks hurling objects, naked men wrestling, and an overwhelming preoccupation with the physiological specifics of gay sex. Still, it may be us, not cheap-beer-and-violence-loving Arkansans, who are ultimately being duped by what may very well be a decoy prank, perhaps there to keep us preoccupied while Cohen infiltrates the Fallujah frontlines to outfit insurgents with colorful components from American Apparel.

Sacha should have taken my earlier suggestion and gone with the nude hummus wrestling.

@StylusPictures: BTW, saw the same show, called their prayer hotline and asked them to pray for themselves for being such self righteous hate mongers. Then I called another time to ask them what the temperature in hell was. For a so-called "Christian" network to regurgitate such hate under the guise of "religion" makes me wonder about their intellectual "sanity". It was pure garbage for those filled with it btw their ears.

I love watching guys grappling. Especially when they get into that "69 hold", making faces, grimacing, sweaty. I find these wrestling matches subconsciously homo erotic events (for straight men) that is...
SBC must've hit a "raw nerve"..pun intended.

I saw this show at 2am on the Christian network a couple of nights ago called NATION ADRIFT which was basically the religious right declaring war on gay people. And not just cultural war, but they actually want to go to fucking literal war with gays.
I hope Sacha gets out of this one without getting into serious trouble. Scary!

Actually, this was in Fort Smith. Not Little Rock. Says so right in the story and the poster.
What bugs me is that whoever did this expected the cops to risk life and limb so they could make fun of people. Full disclosure-I live in Arkansas. I do not go to any fights like this, and I have no desire to. I'm a bleeding heart liberal hippie who hangs out with gay men.
Yet it's only funny till someone loses an eye, as the saying goes.

Sounds great, but was hoping the Bruno flick was a red herring for a new, super-duper secret character.
If it's true will you all bow to me for calling it?
