David Letterman Entranced By Maggie Gyllenhaal's Tale Of A Percocet-Pushing Nurse Feelgood
Posted by Molly Friedman at 5:24 AM on July 19, 2008
Even though we're a day late on this, Dark Knight' s "ironic" lingerie model Maggie Gyllenhaal appeared on Letterman Wednesday night and charmed the pants right off Dave with talk of everyone's favourite celebrity topic: drugs. Speaking in her standard sweetly candid tone, Maggie told a tale of a nurse whose number we'd really like to get a hold of — seems this kooky practitioner who aided Maggie with a broken toe is more than eager to push bundles of those morphine-patches-disguised-as-"painkillers"—Percocets—on her patients.
Our favourite part of the clip as a whole? Letterman doesn't hesitate to a) request a closer look at Maggie's gorgeous legs, or b) attempt to hide his interest in what one does "for pain like that." We're, as always, impressed by Dave;s trademark method of wrapping perviness in a cute, toothy, smiley and lovable package.

Never been a huge Maggie Gyllenhaal fan, personally -- in the sense that a "guy" on the "internet" is a "fan" of an actress, IYKWIM. Something about all the slouching and drooping just kinda never fired me up.
But now. Huh. Gosh she's adorable. Is she trying to make me choose between her and Helen Mirren? That saucy, troublemaking little minx.

She mentioned her boyfriend who's a soccer player. Is she no longer with Peter Sarsgaard? (If she's not into Percocet, maybe she could come over and I could show her my Vicodin collection?)

"I'm not really into . . . Percocet."
It's like that famous line from Dracula, spoken by the Count: "I never drink . . . wine."

@Leviticus_71: Damnit i forgot to turn the italics off. Here I am trying to get all fancy ,what with the internet hot keys and what have you, and I only enforce the conception that i'm as douchy as everyone else.

she was just with peter at the batman premiere... actors can play soccer too.
i'm not sure, but is it in poor taste to discuss taking percocet and saying a nurse said it's ok to drink wine, when the beloved co-star of your Big Blockbuster Movie (and your bro's good friend) has just died of an accidental prescription drug overdose? maybe that's why she starts to downplay the laughs at the end...
i'm just sayings all.....

So, am I the only one who thinks it's poor taste for Maggie to be talking about her prescription meds when she's pushing her latest movie, you know - the last one Heath Ledger made?
I'm usually the first to be onboard with the meds, but this seems kind of icky to me...

@Leviticus_71: We're douchetastic, not douchy. Just clarifying.

Anyone who has a problem with Maggie Gyllenhaal should watch Letterman's interview with Katie Holmes when she was promoting Batman Begins.
Katie Holmes is to Batman as Sofia Coppola is to Godfather III.

The nurse should have pushed a bit of marinol on her, at least that way, she'd fatten up a bit.

My fave part was Maggie talking about her husband and their new practice of conducting "tick checks" due to fear of Lyme disease. The idea of tick checking her is highly appealing to me. Crawl over to the desk, Maggie...

She is one of the few intelligent and unique actresses in Hollywood.
