Ah, the blind item. Is there any other gossip variety that promises so much while risking so little? Our first inclination was to assume it was Larry David, who fits squarely into the category of "divorced comic superstar," and who, let's face it, just seems a lot less tortured lately and entirely too preoccupied with the new Madonna album. But then there's that word: "groovy." It really seems out of place, suggesting to us it's some sort of clue or tip-off. Then it struck us like a lightning bolt: Eddie Murphy once had a radio hit with "Party all the Time," a groovy jam with groovy lyrics like "She lets her hair down/she lets her body down: She lets her body/she lets her body down." Congratulations, Eddie Murphy, on your new life as an openly gay divorced comedy superstar!

I just sat through Love Guru. Impressive, yes, that a needy sports league with a "I am SO as important as the NFL/NBA" complex (the National Hockey League) and a national TV network (the CBC) were so happy to whore themselves out for needy "comedian" Mike Myers in a beard and simulated hot elephant sex. Yuck.

I was playing at Cat Club on Saturday night and about an hour before we went on Larry David walked in with a hot cougar. They walked up to me and the band and the cougar asked, "Has Metal Detector played yet?", to which I responded , "No", because they weren't on the bill. We then tried to get him to stick around and check out the show, but he said, "Sorry, but not tonight", and left with the aforementioned cougar. So, the gay exploration dude ain't Larry - He's gone metal.
