true story: early '01 newbie to L.A. seeking sort of webby content work; (male) Sony HR person calls out of blue from submitting res online; has me meet him not at main office but emptied bldg near Fox Hills Mall they owned but had canned everyone from. he still has office there. Basically tried to use interview to check me out, use his 'near the beach' address to impress and seduce me. Ha. Sad, sad, Sony. Typical trippy L.A. no boundaries experience...

I'm sure I brought this up last time he appeared, but all he has to do is tap his foot 3 times outside his cubicle. The Sony lot is one giant gay orgy, per my buddies who work there.

I just spent a few minutes trying to find a reference to a book I read a few years ago that followed the careers of a handful of talented, award-winning MFA film graduates in Los Angeles. One of them was a DGA apprentice on, I think, Patriot Games who was told never to come within 60 feet of Mace Neufield. The one who had the most "success" was offered a studio vice-presidency by a guy he met at a gay nightclub. The suit couldn't understand why he turned it down. On the other hand, I have old film school friends who are doing very well and never had to blow anybody. At least, that's what they tell me.
