Australia's Next Top Model 4 Round-Up: The Final Countdooowwwn
Okay so the last few weeks of Australia's Next Top Model Cycle 4 kind of sludged past in a blur. Is it just me, or did all the interesting/captivating/actually modelesque girls get sent packing way too early this year? In any case, Alex and Demelza are this year's Alice and Steph/Eboni and Jess/Gemma and Chloe, and you'll note I've aligned Alex with all the past winners because there's no way in sweet merciful heaven that Demelza should win - least of all because of her despicable work in bullying Alamela, but because she just doesn't have it. Which is not to say that Alex is exactly the next Racquel Zimmerman, either, but hell, desperate times call for desperate measures. Hop over the jump for a last minute stats examination.
ALEXANDRA GIRDWOOD

While there was much LOL-age when Alex first appeared on the show - napping under her Kafka book - I've gradually grown to love her and her odd little Terrance & Philip mouth. She understands fashion (sometimes a little too much; witness the psychedelic mum pants she's so fond of), knows how to pose, and let's face it, making super fatty muffins and cakes for the other girls to eat? As Napoleon Perdis would say, "I LOVE IT!" She might be a bit up herself when it comes to... well, everything, but it doesn't bother me.
Alex copped the series' second load of controversy - sorry, "tragedy" - when it was revealed she had collagen lip injections, but who cares? Naturally it's fine for the judges to call Alex's augmentation a "tragedy", but it's heaps ace for them to call Demelza "fat". Anyway, off to Finalist #2...
DEMELZA REVELY

...and on that note, the media is horrified that Demelza was told she was "bottom heavy" and to lose weight. What makes this situation a little more delicate than it would normally be is the fact that Demelza - for all her worryingly adult powers of Bitch™ - is only 16. You don't need me to tell you that 16 is too young to be dieting and training 10cm off your hips. BUT, perhaps Demelza should've taken this as a sign that modelling is not for her just yet? The truth is, a "Top Model" needs to be a certain size. It'd be a grand old world if she didn't, but that's the job description as it stands.
Plus, she's too young. Not necessarily in years - because there are plenty of late-teens models stalking the world's catwalks - but in terms of her maturity levels, which you need a microscope to identify.
Anyway, if there's one reason for Demelza not to win, it's her bullying tendencies. I very much hope the judges take this into consideration next Tuesday night, because if she wins, then Steph/Jess/Chloe win, too - and it's Australia's Next Top Model, not Australia's Next NQR Runner Up Accidentally Winning In A Fluke To End All Flukes.

I don't think I've ever cared less about the outcome of a show. Yes, Alex may know fashion, but has no one else noticed she's butt ugly??? And while Demelza may have a pretty face, she's GAINED weight on the show and would never make it on catwalks. Speaking of catwalks, Alex walks like she has a pole up her butt. Sam was eliminated because her looks were too european, thats it.
Kat- obviously you know nothing about high fashion. Alex is the classic beauty- she is high fashion which is good. Demelza is is pretty but she just doesn't have it- pretty doesn't make a model. As evidenced by all her photos which were very lackluster and blah.
they both dont look like models to me, for many reasons, and they wont go very far internationally. Caris, if she continues to lose the weight that she needed to shed, would go further than these two slappa's. Another season with another winner-has-been, which we will all forget about next year.
If these two cold called a modelling agency no one would of given them the time of day. They are lucky to have gone this far and generated such acceptance over their flaws and imperfections.
At the end of they day, whoever makes the biggest fuss on the show will stay, and the two who did was alex (sabotaging everyone) and demelza (bullying/chubsy ubsy). Id like to see how far alex gets when she cant sabotage real world models. And demelza, well, shes just too big.
Its not a REAL modelling contest. When will people realise this.
go demelza you can win
from ness
Demelza is gorgeous but doesn't often know what to do with it. Alex does have the high-fashion thing; she'd make a good LOLMODEL. She certainly seems self-possessed enough to make it. She's been one of my secret favourites for awhile now, and I'd like to see her win.
But don't remind me of the first two seasons. Eboni was simply horrid, and Jess, her rival, should have won instead. As with all things, I blame Ereka Heynatz.
I think,Demelza going winner!! because, she is GORGEOUS!! dont matter she age... also, alex look ugly because, she problem mouth and she have eyes look fish eyes. i dont blamed to alex but she look fine but i love DEMELZA!! i favourtie her.. she soo pretty face and beauitful eyes =]
GO DEMELZA!!
Well, I can't believe delmeza won, she must know alot of rich people I guess, eventhough her motto is not to be a bitch, all I saw was that she can't help but say nasty things about other people and yet it seems exceptable for our top model to have that kind of attitude. I really am disappointed that Alex didn't win.
I totally agree Amy Demelza kept saying she is not a bitch but in every clip of her last night she was bitching about Alex at least Alex kept her composure and remained classy.
I'm not from Australia but i work within the fashion industry here in my country, and I would say Alex should have won, I was really suprised. I agree with Alex Perry that Alex's is the face of the future. How can a Bitch win, she's not a good role model. I would suggest, boycott her magz or any appearance. A year from now, Alex would be way famous and book more jobs than DEMONleza... it showed in N.Y. and Australia go sees, what more example do you need?!
