The Easter Bunny No Longer Prime Suspect In Minnie Driver Baby Daddy Mystery, But Who Is?
Posted by Molly Friedman at 7:50 AM on May 9, 2008
Thus far, Riches star Minnie Driver has given the public three wildly different answers to anyone inquiring who knocked up the card-carrying member of that annoyingly massive Celebrity-Slash-Singer subset. Among the potential baby daddies she's flung out into the media's clutches? The Easter Bunny, musician Craig Zolezzi, and yes, God him or herself. And six months into her pregnancy, Driver has defiantly and coyly kept her lips sealed, until now. In a recent interview with the UK's Independent, she finally released two very telling details: the guy is British, and "sort of in the same business." Our guesses lie after the jump, but we leave it to you, loyal Defamer readers, to solve the mystery:

Eddie Izzard: Her co-star in The Riches, Izzard is a fellow musician, British, which makes him a strong candidate considering they're currently working together. Plus, he's a comedian, and as we know far too well, Minnie loves to cackle that piercing cackle of hers. But then again, he is a (former?) tranny...
Mick Jagger: Back in 2001, Minnie was seen "canoodling" with the legendary womanizing rocker and his magnetic torso. Plus, he's "sort of in the business," considering all those concert flicks, right?
Cary Elwes: The two starred in 2004's Ella Enchanted, and though no fling rumours surfaced, he's a Brit, very cute, and sadly, "sort of" in the biz mainly because the only movie that comes to our mind when his name is mentioned is Mel Brooks' cult classic Robin Hood: Men In Tights.
Pete Townshend: Well, he's British, he's in the music business, and they once sang together so...that's all folks!
Matt Damon: Um, well, after that whole "being dumped on Oprah" thing, we're thinking no to that one.
Now it's your turn to leave guesses in the comments.

"Tranny"? Really?
Izzard still loves to wear women's clothes and identifies as a transvestite.
But is the pejorative "tranny" as used by the clueless to denote only a transgender person or does it also encompass transvestites?
Or are "they" all the same?
Minnie seems to be intelligent enough to understand that being a transvestite has no bearing on whether or not a man who would wear her pants also wants to get into them.

Lets see, Hot Tranny Mess, Rock Fossil, or Bland Law&Order SVU guest star. I'm going for none of the above.

@Rey: Actually, none of the above. Fans of Izzard will know that he casually refers to himself as a "tranny" in his act from time to time. See clip for evidence. But nice use of the word "pejorative."

@Rey:
Yes, I was just going to say that. And statistically, most men who like to dress up in women's clothes are heterosexual. I have been hit on by many of them in the Hollywood area. If Minne had wanted an actual trannie, she could have found one quite easily in my neighborhood.

@Mark Graham: Oh, please don't misunderstand me. I fully subscribe to the notion that one who belongs to a slighted group can use any term traditionally used to demean them in an empowered way.
Izzard does this wonderfully.
The above post did not. It presented the term as if it would somehow negate any sort of possibility of a relationship with a female and I felt it important to make that distinction since Izzard usually does so much more eloquently.
But thanks for the clip! I love that bit.

I've been following Eddie's career for years and I've never seen him perform as a musician.
Here's what he says about his musicianship:

But he is an executive transvestite.

Eddie Izzard is not a "tranny". He is a transvestite (most of whom are straight men). Sorry, but I gotta play the bullshit, that's just damn insensitive card on this one.

Aw, I do volunteering with transgendered people, and according to them "tranny" is used to indicate an unsuccessful transvestite (ie cannot pass). I've never heard any of them use it to describe a transgendered person.

Here is his wiki page. Scroll down to "Transvestism", it says pretty much what I have always heard about him (here in the UK).

I have no idea if he is the daddy, but I bet he and Minnie are laughing at all the guessing no matter what.

Eddie Izzard says he is not gay. He's called himself a "Male Lesbian".
He's also said he is not "transgendered", but that he just likes wearing women's clothes.
Dude is so open about wearing ladies stuff I doubt he would lie if he actually was gay! (That would almost be easier for people to understand. He's been famous here in the UK as a comedian for years and people seem to accept him fine - though the UK has a history of "Panto Dames" and men dressing as women for comedy which probably helps.)
