Seth MacFarlane Made The Same Amount As 'Iron Man' Over The Weekend
Posted by Seth at 3:55 AM on May 6, 2008
It was less than six months ago that Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane was picketing along with his fellow WGA members, saying of Fox's plans to air Guy episodes that had not yet been completed: "It would just be a colossal dick move if they did that." At the time, MacFarlane had the luxury of knowing his deal with the studio—two years in the making, and reportedly astronomical—had yet to be finalised, putting him "in breach of nothing" during the work stoppage. Well, the dotted-lines have at last been signed, the fences, apparently mended: 20th Century Fox TV will make MacFarlane the highest-paid writer/producer/gay-baby-voicer in television.
The deal is worth over $100 million, committing MacFarlane's showrunner duties on Guy, American Dad!, and Guy spinoff Cleveland until 2012. Throw in series development costs (live, animated, and web-only), and home video and merchandising revenue, you have in this unlikely wiseacre hailing from Kent, CT. a template for the Creative Hollywood Mogul of the Future. If ever there were an appropriate time for Peter Griffin's alter ego to bust out into a rousing rendition of "I Need a Jew," now would be it.

I, for one, welcome our new manatee overlords.

Right now a tiny tear is dribbling down Judd Apatow's hairy, hairy face, as he is no longer the mayor of Hollywood.

@Juancho: Ha. "This reminds me of the time 'insert pop culture reference that has nothing to do with the plot.'"

@TheStarterWife: Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but he's married to Rachel MacFarlane.

@JudgeFudge: I thought Johnny Grant was the Mayor of Hollywood?

@SanFranBetsu: That's his sister.
@heidiho: Yeah, I've seen a few of them. Sad that even his dating life is clichéd. How'd you meet him?

@Desk_hack: He usually has some hot young thing on his arm, but he's technically single.
Also he's ridiculously nice and hot in person. Sigh.

@SanFranBetsu: I cannot help myself. It's GTA month for me right now.
Yeah, I've heard nothing but good stories about being around MacFarlane.
(Even if I cannot stand Family Guy.)

Hot in person? Interesting. Now Rachel, she's hot.
However, he does (or did-it's been about 5 years) have a bitchin' bachelor pad.
Also...he regularly attends the Brass Monkey on Mondays...does quite an impressive Sinatra. Rachel is no slouch with the vocal department as well.

I'll never forget the Jimmy Kimmel where the host tried to hook McFarlane up with Jenny McCarthy, as they sat there squirming next to one another on the guest couch. High comedy.
I can't watch Family Guy anymore, every season after it was cancelled has been diminishing returns. And forget American Dad. But I do hear McFarlane is a great guy to work with in terms of the writers room, he's launched the careers of a lot of staff like Ricky Blitt and Carter Bays.

Futurama, My So-Called Life, Freaks and Geeks--the list of great TV shows taken off TV far too early goes on. Yet Family Guy and American Dad (god almighty, that show is terrible) stay on the air. Remind me why I still own a TV.

To think this show was cancelled and he's raking in the cash big time now. To also think that Futurama was cancelled and we have to wait months for new movies of it.

@heidiho: That reminds me of the time some guy commenting on a blog thought he was clever and insightful by parroting a heavy-handed point made by South Park months ago.
