the ‘protest’ was from a letter sent to rant radio several weeks ago.
neil mitchell held the date off until a time to suit him and his show.
several of his staff and reporters were there to get things going.
the peaceful idea only went out onto the road when 1 guy stipped down.
the media went into its usual frenzy and moved out onto the road bringing a lot of the oldies with them.
many stayed in place on the steps.
all the news crews did their stuff from the centre of flinders and swanston and then after much encouragement from the supportive police they moved back off the road.

police units were un-prepared and cars/vans from all over cbd came to assist with the new traffic chaos caused.
public transport (esp trams) were mostly affected
trams were lined up in both directions as far as you could see.

the media (nm on 3aw esp) were to blame for the traffic distruption and putting people in danger on very busy CBD streets.

i think the final cross would have bben different if someone was badly hurt.
