From The Horse's Mouth: Hot Tips On How To Get Splendour Tickets

Australian Post Posted by Jess McGuire at 12:49 PM on May 21, 2008

After last year's disastrous ticketing "issues" which led to MySpazz fans frothing at the mouth with anger, organisers have helpfully compiled a list of tips for those looking to purchase their tickets online.

Curious? Eager to get your paws on said tickets tomorrow when they go on sale at 9am? After the jump, folks.

Hi there,

As you're no doubt well aware, the tickets for SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS 2008 go on sale on Thursday from 9am (AEST).

To help make this process as smooth as possible, we have put our heads together with our new ticketing administrators, Qjump, and come up with a list of sale day tips that you should read if you want the best chance of scoring tickets.

Having said that, it should be pointed out that if sales follow the pattern of the last 6 years, then not everyone who wants a ticket will get a ticket. Splendour is in the extremely privileged position of not only being able to sell out, but also doing so in very short order (5 hours last year).

To get up-to-the-minute news on Thursday about how sales are progressing, please keep your eyes on the Splendour Forum http://www.splendourinthegrass.com/page.php?name=thesplendourforum as we'll be posting the latest info on there and keep your ears tuned to triple j (who've done an absolutely sterling job of letting you all know about Splendour).

OK, here are our hot tips for Thursday. If some of these don't make sense right now, we think they will once you get into the 'shopfront' on Thursday.

1. The URL for tickets this Thursday is: http://www.qjump.com.au/event/2756/. The URL is not a short-cut, it's simply the page on which you will find the various Splendour tickets (event, camping and carbon offset). By using this link you have the most direct route to the right page.

2. To save time on Thursday, create a Qjump account at http://www.qjump.com.au/register/ if you haven't done so already, and make sure you have enough room on your credit card by then too!

3. If you visit Qjump prior to tickets going on sale please keep the following info in mind: If the site is extremely busy early on Thursday (say 8am) you will be redirected to a holding page. To keep things orderly, anyone on this holding page will be cleared prior to 9am to prepare for on-sale.

4. Refreshing is a bad idea - we know when you arrived and you will go through to the shop in the order you arrived. If you hit refresh you will get an on-screen warning. Hit refresh a second time - get another warning. On the 3rd time you will be removed from the site and your access to the URL temporarily blocked. This is the only way to keep order, but it doesn't punish you for accidentally hitting 'refresh'.

5. Once you're in the shop, there will be a session time limit. This will be ample time if you are prepared, so please have the names and dates of birth for anyone you are buying tickets for ready. There is a countdown in the top left of the shop page to let you know how long you have left. Have all name and date of birth details written down and ready and you will be fine.

6. Opening the page more than once on the same computer will make the system think you are refreshing more often than allowed. Don't do it, you will be temporarily banned. To avoid this, make sure you only open one web browser on your computer to access the store.

7. Make sure your web browser is up to date and supports cookies. If you don't have cookies enabled, you won't be able to login to the shop and you won't be able to buy. If you're concerned about this, try Qjump.com.au out before Thursday. If you can add something to your cart, you have cookies enabled. Generally, unless you've specifically disabled this, you should be ok.

8. Those of you intending to buy a Green (or Carbon Offset) Ticket will need to select both the Event Ticket and Carbon Offset options. If you are buying a mix of Green Tickets and regular event tickets, you MUST list the names of those buying Green tickets FIRST, ie ahead of the names of those getting regular event tickets. Don't forget that Green ticket buyers go into a draw to win one of four 2008 Splendour hoodies.

9. Ticket buyers can lodge a support request at http://help.qjump.com.au with all their contact details and as much information as possible about their inquiry. For more info on ticketing, you can also see www.qjump.com.au as well as www.splendourinthegrass.com (view the Tickets section and the Ticketing FAQs).

OK, that's it. There's a lot of info in this newsletter but we think you'll agree that most of it is pretty pertinent.

Lastly, we'd like to thank you all once again for your support and we hope to see you at SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS 2008.

Cheers,
Splendour

And there you have it. Good luck tomorrow!

The qjump ticketing system is no better then last year.

Not only is it hard enough to get through the waiting que, they then give you 10 minutes to select you tickets, type the names/DOB of you & your friends then go through the payment process.

This might not sound too bad but when you consider it takes 5 - 10 minutes for each page to load it is impossible to finalise your order.

You are the timed out and told there are too many people waiting to bother lining up again.

Not ideal...

How many credit cards have been charged with no confirmation that you even have the tickets?? What a mess!! We now have found out (through our credit card provider) that our credit card has been charged twice, but still don't really know if we have the tickets???? AHHHHHH!

Would like the tickets. Have tried all day since until someone told me to contact you. Visa has now record of the sale

ED: I find it hard to believe someone advised you to contact Defamer Australia regarding ticketing issues. Does this site resemble anything even vaguely professional and helpful?! Best of luck to you though, Robyn.
