'Ellen' Assistant Quits Job To Ride Rollercoasters

· As anyone who has ever done it will attest, there are few feelings more liberating than quitting one's job. The following video is of an assistant on the Ellen show who found himself teetering on the brink of sanity until he up and quit his job on May 20. He describes the decision on his blog as being "an exciting stupid move to prove to myself that I need to keep moving toward my dreams... Every time I've made a major move to pursue my dreams I have lost something (2 girlfriends both 3year relationships) but I've gotten a step closer. This time around I don't know what I have to lose... as I look at it right now I have nothing to lose, and those seem to be pretty good odds. If I never do anything, don't ever say that I didn't try." Good luck making your Hollywood dreams come true, Delbert. [Delbert Shoopman]
· Finally, a device for those of you who prefer your exercises in misogyny to sound crisp and lifelike! [Videogum]
· A few months ago, we told about the disastrous first screening for Will Ferrell's Step Brothers. Our operative described it as being "less entertaining than Two And A Half Men." From the looks of this preposterous red-band trailer, that description might end up actually being a compliment. [/Film]
· While we're having a hard time fathoming why on earth Kill Bill billboards are still up in New Zealand, the simple fact of the matter is that this is our third favourite billboard of all-time (behind Angelyne and Vincent Gallo's Brown Bunny blowjob). [Copyranter]

The billboard (just to digress from discussion of Delbert's fate for a sec) is because people in New Zealand really, really likes they some Kill Bill and it's about to air on free television (and presumably the Government-owned network wanted to reassure people that some semblance of bloodiness may be preserved).

Oh Delbert, if only you worked in Silicon Valley just months before the dot-com bubble popped.
I worked in Santa Clara and my first week on the job, as a recruiter for a tech firm, the boss says "well, why don't we all take the next week off? And how about we go to Great America tomorrow?"
I cried cause, you know, when the boss wants people to go away for a bit it's never a good sign. We did go to the park though... and I got to keep my job - for at least another six months anyway, until the layoff notices got handed out.

Delbert, that's almost as daring as the time I quit my job to begin temping. And I do mean almost.

More power to ya, Delbert! I was super-maxi close to quitting recently but you know what, I'm not giving them the satisfaction.
They're gonna have to fire my ass[while I have fun in the process] because otherwise I won't be eligible for unemployment money.

You convinced 2 people for 6 years that you're not gay? Dude, you TOTALLY have what it takes to make it in Hollywood!

"Every time I've made a major move to pursue my dreams I have lost something (2 girlfriends both 3year relationships)" - Uh, newsflash - losing those girlfriends had nothing to do with pursuing your dream -unless your dream is to be a lap dancer in a gay bar.
