The Hills: 'How Can You Love And Hate Someone So Much At The Same Time?'
Posted by Molly Friedman at 8:00 AM on April 16, 2008
Oh dear. After weeks spent learning about ancient proverbs and analysing the relationship between women and fashion, the cast of The Hills has gotten their manicured hands dirty. Moving on from worldly life lessons, the girls dove highlights first into Relationships 101. McCain endorsette Heidi raised a good question last night: "How can you love and hate someone so much at the same time?" And her sort-of boyfriend Spencer provided some guidance. As his Adderall eyes flickered and his surfer boy voice reached shrieky heights, he attempted to explain something "everyone on the planet" knows: the difference between "Relationship-acation" and breaking up. But no matter how totally profound Spencer may have appeared, queen bee Lauren drowsily piped in with a brief lesson on boys who are "scum." Enjoy this video, crafted with loving care by Molly McAleer. [MTV]

"You've gone from slow mo to fashion glow"?
Oh please. I think I need a drink, and it's not even 6 am.

That's a special kind of bitchiness, to try to control who your ex-fiancee talks to after you break up with him. Impressive.

@Tiger_Tanaka: You could see it that way, but honestly? I think Spencer is a master manipulator. What would you do if the fiancee you just broke up with came to the bar he knew you were at and then hit on girls in front of you? He's intent to get a reaction out of her, and Heidi can't see that.
Spencer Pratt is a disgusting human being and I think he has a textbook case of "psychopath". I am not a Heidi fan, but I am a fan of womankind and every time I see him call her insane or delusional, I see her self-worth get chipped away a little more. It's sad that the producers of the show allow this sick man to be featured on television. It makes me very afraid for all the girls out there watching this who have no clue that if someone treated them that way, their self-esteem could be ruined beyond repair.

@Molly McAleer: Yes, ma'am, I agree completely ma'am. I don't like him either, ma'am, and it was not my intent to paint him in any good light, ma'am. I find the women on the show to be rather sweet, even in their slightly ditzy LA-ness, and I'm amazed that all they seem to attract are manipulative douchebags. He's a selfish bastard, with his phony "miss you, hey beautiful" BS, and total lack of sensitivity or common sense. I mean, a graffiti mural? What are you, nine years old? And if he pulled that shit at the bar with me, I'd kick him in the balls, or start dating a rapper and scream at the top of my lungs how much better the sex is now, standing on his coffee table, in front of his precious flatscreen. There, I feel better. Have a good day.
