Obviously Someone Has Thoughtfully Informed Paul Leyden That Slagging Off John Cusack May Not Be The Best Career Move

We laughed last week when we read Canal Road star Paul Leyden had spilled his guts whilst being interviewed on a Brisbane radio station, announcing that working with John Cusack had been a horrible experience due to the Hollywood’s star’s prima donna on set antics.

“Well,” we thought quietly to ourselves, “probably not the best thing to do when you’re just starting to make some headway in showbiz. Traditionally it’s best to keep mum about the countless dribbling idiots and egomaniacs you encounter in the movie business until you’re hugely rich and famous enough to not have to worry about the backlash. Ballsy move, Leyden…”

Clearly someone has given Paul Leyden a heads up on this fact, and he’s now attempting to tack on an unconvincing “… just kidding?” to his previous anti-Cusack comments.

Canal Road pin-up Paul Leyden has done some serious back-pedalling since calling Hollywood heavyweight John Cusack a prima donna this week.

Leyden said he was gutted when his “jovial” jibe from a Brisbane radio interview popped up in papers.

Leyden claimed the High Fidelity star’s diva antics and lateness had cost The Factory, the big-screen thriller which he penned and in which Cusack was the leading man.

Apparently Leyden didn’t know he was on air and yesterday said the dig had been “lost in translation”.

Lost in translation, eh? We can see how that could happen. Not when chatting with the English speaking hosts of a Brisbane radio show, but in general. In fact, we’re going to throw Leyden’s original Cusack hate rant into Babelfish, translate it into French, and then back into English for no reason whatsoever!

“John Cusack was one of my favourite actors until I met him. I have to say one thing – and this is my favourite line when people ask me what I think of John Cusack – he plays nice guys on film. So, read between the lines. He cost us a lot of money and he was getting his biggest pay day on this film. He was getting paid a lot of cash and he would just be two hours late to set, wouldn’t apologise for keeping everyone waiting in the snow… a real prima donna. Everyone thought he was a really nice guy and all I can say is that it was a really nice day when he wrapped.”

John Cusack was one of my actors of favourite until I met it. I must say that a thing – and it is my line of favourite when people ask me what I think of John Cusack – it plays of nice types on film. Thus, read between the lines. It cost us much money and it had its greater day of wages on this film. It obtained much paid money cash and it would be right two late hours to place, would not make excuses to maintain each one to wait in snow… a truth gave of PRIMA. Each one thought that it was a really nice type and all which I can say is that it was one day really beautiful where it was wrapped.

Wow. That proved… absolutely nothing. Disappointingly unfunny (perhaps we picked the wrong language? Do the Dutch bring the LULZ?)

Forget the “You guys didn’t get that I was being hilarious!” defence, we’re more inclined to believe the other excuse Leyden offered up – he didn’t realise the mics were on.

(That said, we’d really need to listen to the interview and hear the tone of Paul Leyden’s voice to really know one way or the other. Deadpan deliveries never translate well to the written word. Did anyone actually hear this infamous interview? Was Paul taking the piss?)
