Memo To Kate Neilson: Denial Is Not Just A River Etc Etc

Following intimations on his Enough Rope appearance on Monday that he and girlfriend Kate Neilson were assessing whether they were “good for each other”, it looks as though Wayne Carey has split with his girlfriend of two years.

Only we’re not so sure Neilson knows it’s for real this time.

Family sources close to Carey said last night they believed it was a final break-up rather than a separation.

But Ms Neilson denied their relationship was over.

“There are up and down moments, but I’m going to go away and Wayne and I will hopefully get things back on track, and things will be more positive in the future,” she told the Herald Sun yesterday.

Ms Neilson said the former football champion had dropped her off at the airport and that she just needed time away from Melbourne.

“I’m just going away for a week or two to clear my head — just to get away from Melbourne for a bit,” she said.

But the Carey family member insisted it was over.

“It was amicable, and they are both moving forward in their lives,” the source said.

Interestingly enough, the article goes on to state that the Hun has reason to believe that it was Neilson who ended up pocketing the rumoured $180,000 that New Idea offered up for their cover story on the couple’s tumultuous relationship.

We’re not really surprised by any of this – in fact, a Defamer Australia pal once crossed paths with Ms Neilson on the grid girl circuit and got the impression that she would stop at nothing to end up famous and/or rich. They also noted that she was at least 25 back in the bikini days – in 2004 – even though she now gives her age as 26.

We’re no maths geniuses, but we’re not sure that adds up. Perhaps Kate can let us know in between counting her money.
