Now I understand why my mother hated Indecent Obsession so much. She used to clench her teeth and roll her eyes when that song came on Video Hits. They are much more awful than I remember (I was only 8 at the time).
This clip is all about the drummer, his enthusiasm alone, powered every shoulder pad factory of the 80’s.
the song is annoying like a horrible fly in the next room who keeps buzzing and bashing itself into the window.
I wanted these guys to get a star on Brisbane’s Rock’n'Roll Walk Of Fame. They were so jibbed – I mean, WHO ARE the “Saints” and the “Go-Betweens”?
All these years later, I STILL love Indecent Obsession. I’ve got all three versions of Spoken Words plus Indio, and Relativity when David and Andrew left, and Michael and Darryl moved to the UK and reformed with Richard and Graham. I’ve got tshirts, vynal, vhs, cds and 7 and 12” records plus samplers of Spoken Words and Indio. I wish they’d make a comeback. Most bands are these days, and 80’s music is back. Long live Indecent Obsession!
Oh and Carla, if you’re mother hated them so much, why didn’t she change the channel?
