Spare A Thought For Australia’s Last Top Model

ebonistocks.jpgWhile Defamer Australia are huge fans of Australia’s Next Top Model Cycle 3 winner Alice Burdeu, we were also gunning big-time for Cycle 2 winner, Eboni Stocks.

She was funny, bitchy and gorgeous, and we were sure she’d do great things if her photoshoots on the show were anything to go by. Sadly for Eboni and for our hopes and dreams for her, things didn’t really go as planned – bar brawls, belligerent interviews, modelling gigs focusing only on her legs – and while Burdeu jets around the world booking editorials, it pays to take pause to check in with Eboni:

Confidential stumbled across the trouble-plagued Stocks ferrying plates of food to customers at Waterloo restaurant Pavarotti – marking the second time the 22-year-old has resorted to working in the service industry since she was crowned Australia’s next top model in 2006.

Stocks, whose public profile is dotted with controversial incidents – including charges of obstructing police – started working at the eatery last week.

Pavarotti manager Frank Purcell admitted he had given the leggy brunette a job because he felt sorry for the failed catwalker.

“She’s a good girl and she’s had a tough time,” Purcell told Confidential.

“She asked me for some casual work and so far she’s turned out to be a great waitress.”

Such is the reality of reality TV!

Likewise, fashion and modelling is as fickle as the wind, unfortunately, and nothing sums it up like this unfortunate little alert that popped up when we were browsing for Eboni this morning:

We feel your pain, Eboni – we were voted ‘Most Likely To Be A Movie Star’ in our Year 12 yearbook, and did it happen? No it didn’t.

“Such is the reality of reality TV” ha the irony.

In fact there’s very little reality to the article, the quotes are even manufactured. Eboni was actually walking home FROM a showing (that’s right, modelling) when asked by the owner of the pizza shop, whom she is friends with, if she could help out as they were busy and understaffed. Not that there’s any shame in waitressing, but maybe think twice before you believe everything you read in a cheap sensationalist newspaper.

You were rooting for Epony-Ray?? Clearly defamer, your taste in models is as bad as your taste in fashion. Jesse French has clearly demonstrated herself to be the better model… oh, and person too.

Jess all the way. Took very good photos, survived to the end despite a couple of the judges *hating* her, and had to deal with some mean girl behaviour.

Eboni was funny, but possessed of a wicked overbite and an entitled demeanour after she went to hospital mid-competition. She missed a photoshoot and a couple of challenges, then got very angry when anyone dared to think that maybe it wasn’t particularly fair for her to come back into the competition.
(*Tyra* wouldn’t have let her back in. Though really that’s not a glowing recommendation.)

And I hated that the judges said they weren’t going to give her a free pass for having been in hospital, and then did anyway, right up to the end. But then, Ereka Heynatz had terrible taste in models anyway. And worst reunion show ever; done without the winner, and before any of it had aired, so none of the reactions were different from how they had been on the show.

I… get too invested in model reality shows.

Though I do like the apparent rule across Top Model that the ‘noted fashion photographer’ judge has to be hot.

Totally agree that Jess was the better model. Hated both Cycle 1 & 2’s winners, both runner-ups ahould have won instead.
Btw, does anyone think that Eboni looks just like Sutan, the hair/makeup guy from America’s Next Top Model??!!
