Memo To K-Rudd: Some Possible Ideas For Upcoming Publicity Stunts

Cheeky.jpgAs confusing as the British parliamentary system is to us (House of the who said what now? Number 10 where?), there's something they are all awfully good at, and that is being as screwed up and bizarre as anything you'd see on Passions.

Well, here's our chance to combine two of the things we love: Britain's bewildering political business, and The Cheeky Girls!

To give you a little bit of back-story, hilariously shit "singing" Romanian twins The Cheeky Girls auditioned for PopStars: The Rivals the same season that birthed Girls Aloud, their debut was in a fit of sheer geniusity called The Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum), and recently one of them - Gabriella - revealed her affair with British MP Lembit Opik, SO, at an annual fundraising bash this week, he roped them in as entertainment - along with fellow MP Stephen Pound, who, er, donned the Girls' trademark "cheeky" hotpants, too.

Cross-dresing for the occasion, MP for Ealing Stephen Pound took centre stage with the Liberal Democrat as they joined the Cheeky Girls in rehearsals for a talent show.

Dressed in PVC hotpants and bright red vest-top, Pound paid tribute to the singing duo as he copied their trademark look.

The Macmillan House of Lords and House of Commons Parliamentary Palace of Varieties, taking place tonight, is an annual night of cabaret, and has made around £750,000 for charity since its inception.

We're still not sure exactly what is going on, but we were touched by this little snippet in the midst of all the craziness; asked what she thought of her daughter's love affair, Cheeky Mum Margit says, "Everyone who sees them is shocked. People dismissed it as a Christmas pantomime, but now it's the New Year and they can see it is a genuine romance."

We love it!

While most of you were either out tying one on or at home sleeping one off, WGA presidents Patric Verrone (West) and Michael Winship (East) were pounding Red Bulls and firing off a 3am email to their membership announcing that a tentative deal has been reached with the AMPTP. According to the email, the deal "protects a future in which the Internet becomes the primary means of both content creation and delivery." Huzzah! All of the deal points can be found in handy PDF format here; the email sent to guild members follows after the jump.
