Tragic Facebook Groups Raise Concerns About Rampant Delusions Of Grandeur Amongst Australian C-list

As anyone who spends their day trawling Facebook while wasting time at work will slowly be becoming aware, Facebook is starting its slow slide down into MySpace-esque crapness. The “random adds”, the shitty applications that make you invite 20 people before seeing your results, the ads for Christian stadium gigs and low-rent bikinis – and now, the arrival of the ‘celebrity profiles’.

Confidential has picked up on the trend, but only scratches the surface of the issue. They reckon there’s a group called ‘Proud Australian Celebrities’ – they’re wrong, there are in fact two ‘request to join’ (i.e. invite-only) groups – and they’re doozies. Let’s look at them, shall we?

Join this fledgling group if you want to have in depth ‘Wall-to-Wall’ discussions with such musical luminaries as Mark Da Costa, Mahalia Barnes, Melissa Tkautz and Lavina Williams (who is apparently now living in Germany). The “i-stockphoto.com” image used as this group’s icon – of a gold record – says a lot about its members aspirations. No one can take away their dreams, NO ONE!!

The larger of the two groups at 27 members, this one boasts such heavy hitting members as Jono Coleman, Vanessa Amorosi, Natalie Gauci, Casey Donovan and Courtney Jackson (you know, the parrot-haired gay from The Biggest Loser).

A perusal of their ‘Haven’t Replied’ list reveals they are chasing Nicky Whelan, Elle Macpherson and Brendan Fevola, though it’s anyone’s guess as to whether the group admins actually know anything about a) celebrity and b) Australia, because scroll down the invited list and you find:
