Q. Is it true your mother was a one-legged Vietnamese nun and you father a one-legged fisherman? And they named you Hoppity?

A. Yes, it’s all true. Seriously. My real parents were Vietnamese and they did call me Hoppity. My mother only had her left leg, my father his right. To have a son called Hoppity seemed very funny to them, but it was changed once I was adopted.
