The Final Final Countdown: WGA Expected To Recommend Strike Shortly

We’re only about 90 minutes from the beginning of tonight’s big WGA General Assembly at the L.A. Convention Center (note to entrepreneurs: you’d better hurry up and get down there with your “I Walked Off The Job Today and All I Got Was This Lousy Red T-shirt” novelty garments), where, according to a story just posted to the LAT’s website, the very thing that we’d hoped to distract ourselves from by briefly taking up the cause of the Zombie Guild is expected to occur: a strike recommendation by the writers’ negotiating committee. And just to add a little bit of extra gloom to an already pretty depressing – though not unexpected – development, AMPTP president J. Nicholas “J-Nicky 3″ Counter III has issued yet another one of his end-of-day statements on behalf of the studios that everyone is so crazy about (there he goes with the DVD thing again), perhaps hoping to get in one final shot at the Guild before a giant pinata bearing his likeness is beaten by thousands of agitated, stick-swinging scribes until his colourful shell is cracked open, spilling forth thousands of dollars from the WGA strike fund onto the convention centre floor.
