Supernanny Makers’ ‘Ethics’ Land Them In The Naughty Seat

413_5.jpgIf we are to believe everything we see on TV, Supernanny Jo Frost is a miracle worker whose no-nonsense advice and Continental “pass-tah and soss” meals are the only way to get screaming todlers to shut up.

All well and good, were it not for emerging allegations – made by a decorated and respected UK filmmaker – that the tots weren’t all that bad to begin with, and that Supernanny crewmembers bullied them into chucking more tele-worthy tantrums.

Roger Graef, 71, one of Britain’s leading film-makers and broadcasters, has revealed a litany of dishonour among reality shows.

“In some reality programs I have had producers come to me and say ‘I can’t do this any more, I have been told to change the ending to conform to the script’,” Mr Graef said.

“They were told to force children to cry on Supernanny. They were told to change things on Wife Swap.”

We’re pretty certain there aren’t too many people out there who still think reality TV is one-take stuff, but bullying children into turning on the waterworks for ratings? That really is unasseptable.

Now all we can think of is the South Park episode where Supernanny “won’t stop moaning and eating her own faeces”. Just because, really.
