Amy Winehouse Round-Up: Back In The UK, Drug Raids On Hotel Room, Courtney Still Sounding Off

amy.jpgWinegums watch shows no sign of needing to be shifted to a weekly update, with the Troubled© soul singer and her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, jetting back into the UK after becoming “bored” of their tropical holiday, where hotel staff were apparently conducting drug sweeps of the couple’s suite after other guests mentioned “strange smells” wafting from Winegums central.

Amy is back in town for the Mercury Awards, where her odds of winning have lengthened considerably (Bat For Lashes is now the favourite), though we are inclined to add that we think it’s about the music, maaaan, and that Amy’s recent misadventures shouldn’t harm her chances of winning if she was originally considered the hot tip to take out the novelty cheque.

Meanwhile, Courtney Love has continued to defend herself in the UK press after she was reported to have remarked that Winegums’ drug-use was the most prodigious the Hole frontwoman had ever seen, although this time using considerably better grasp of English language and grammar than her last statement.

However, outspoken Love told music publication NME: “I said no such thing. I care deeply about her talent, I love this record tons, but I wouldn’t comment even if I did have any knowledge.

“My deepest apologies to anyone who believes this nonsense, that I would judge or fingerpoint unless I felt that [many] people’s lives were on the line.”

Glad to hear that Courtney’s cleared it all up (again), though she is becoming a bit of a rent-a-quote these days. All we need now is for fellow two-cents-offerer Johnny Rzeznik to air his thoughts on the matter and we will be able to sleep happily!
